What Has Happened So Far in Season 4

Season 4 of From started on April 19, 2026. The season picks up right after the shocking end of Season 3. Jim Matthews is dead. The Man in Yellow killed him in the first moments of the new season. His body was found in the barn the next morning.

Harold Perrineau, who plays Sheriff Boyd Stevens, said this season gets darker than ever before. He explained that Boyd starts the season completely broken.

“Boyd, already starts off dark because I think coming out of season three, you know, the death of Tian-Chen, the torturing of Ellis, the return of Smiley. Boyd starts off the season really messed up,” Perrineau said in an interview.

The Season 3 finale showed Fatima giving birth to a creature in the root cellar. That creature grew into a full adult Smiley, one of the main monsters. The monsters who hunt the town residents at night seem unable to die permanently.

The Man in Yellow Revealed as Season 4 Villain

Episode 4 continues the story of the Man in Yellow, played by Douglas E. Hughes. This character appears to control much of what happens in the town. He told Jim before killing him, “Knowledge comes with a price.”

The biggest twist this season involves his ability to change form. Sophia, played by Julia Doyle, appears as a new character who seems like a scared victim. But she is actually the Man in Yellow hiding among the survivors. The show confirms a fan theory that the villain has infiltrated the town without anyone knowing.

“Infiltrated in the community, the Man in Yellow can manipulate emotions, feed suspicion, and push each character beyond their limit. Fear, anger, and paranoia become weapons,” reports detail from the latest episodes.

Where Other Characters Stand Now

Tabitha and Jade, played by Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Alpay, are getting back memories from their past lives. They are starting to understand that the cycle of death and rebirth in the town has happened many times before.

Julie appears to have gained the ability to storywalk, or travel through time. She tried to warn her father Jim about his death, but she could not change what happened. Ethan also saw his father’s spirit sitting on a log, suggesting Jim may still exist in some form.

Boyd now knows the monsters can return even after being killed. The town’s residents are losing hope. Harold Perrineau warned that the show gets so mean it makes him upset just thinking about it.

“In Episode 2, the pushback from the town is really, I’m going to say, dastardly. It’s just so mean. In fact, it’s so mean it makes me mad just to think about it,” Perrineau said.
