HBO’s hit drama pushes boundaries again with a brutal wedding night attack that has everyone talking. Jacob Elordi’s character Nate loses more than just his temper in the latest episode.
The third season of Euphoria returned after a four-year break on April 12, 2026. The show picks up five years after season two ended. The characters are no longer in high school. They are now young adults dealing with grown-up problems. Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie are all back for the new season.

But the latest episode, titled “The Battle of Paladin,” took things to a level that even long-time fans did not see coming. Episode six, which aired on May 17, 2026, features a wedding, a bird, and one of the most graphic injury scenes in the show’s history.
Nate and Cassie’s Wedding Turns Into a Bloodbath
The episode focuses on the wedding of Nate Jacobs and Cassie Howard. The couple decides to get married, bringing together the old friend group in an awkward reunion. Maddy Perez watches from the side as her ex-boyfriend marries her former best friend. Rue shows up but has to leave for work. Jules runs into Cal Jacobs, Nate’s father, which brings back uncomfortable memories.
Things seem normal until the reception ends. The couple returns home for their wedding night. But they are not alone. Naz, played by Jack Topalian, is waiting with his men. Nate owes Naz $500,000, and the debt collector wants his money now.
The goons throw Cassie to the ground. They beat Nate badly. Then Naz pulls out a set of clippers. In full view of the camera, he cuts off Nate’s toe. The scene does not cut away. Viewers see the whole thing.

How They Filmed the Shocking Toe Scene
Jack Topalian explained how the crew made the scene look so real. The toe that gets cut off was a prosthetic. But the moments leading up to the cut used Jacob Elordi’s actual foot.
Topalian said the clippers given to him had very sharp edges. He had to be extremely careful during filming. “I had to be really mindful of that, because at one point, I do put it around Jake’s toe,” Topalian told Page Six. “If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe.”
“If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe. But, everything turned out well! There were no mishaps, no accidents.” — Jack Topalian, actor who plays Naz
Topalian also praised Elordi for doing his own stunts in the fight scene. He called the Australian actor “committed, giving, and prepared.”

Fans React to the Graphic Violence on Social Media
The scene made viewers turn away from their screens. Many went to social media to share their shock.
One fan on X wrote: “ok they just killed the f*ckin bird and cut nate’s toe CRAZY WORK.” Another user said they felt “totally disoriented in the worst possible way” after watching.
On Reddit, fans admitted they had to “look away” because the scene “got them good.” The combination of the animal death and the body horror was too much for some viewers.
Cassie’s OnlyFans Storyline Also Draws Criticism
Episode six is not just about the toe cutting. Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie continues her journey into adult content creation. In a previous episode, Cassie was seen snorting drugs off another person at a party. In episode six, her excitement over reaching 50,000 subscribers leads to more explicit scenes with Maddy.
Fans had strong reactions to these moments too. One viewer wrote: “Cassie rubbing coke on her meow meow this #Euphoria s*** gets weird I’m OUT.” Another tweeted: “Cassie rubbed cocaine on her WHAT?!?!”
Critics have also questioned the direction of season three. Some say the show now uses shock just for the sake of being shocking. Page Six wrote that the third season “falls more often into flashy ridiculousness.” The publication also said the show “lost its plot” compared to earlier seasons.

Rue Faces the DEA as the Season Nears Its End
While the wedding violence takes center stage, Rue’s story takes a serious turn. The episode ends with Rue getting pulled over by a cop. But it is not a regular traffic stop. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) wants to talk to her.
Rue has been working with drug dealers Laurie and Alamo throughout the season. The DEA showing up could mean big trouble for her. Viewers will have to wait for episode seven to see what happens next.
Euphoria season three has eight episodes total. Episode six just aired on May 17. Episode seven will air on Sunday, May 24, 2026, followed by the season finale on May 31, 2026 on HBO and Max.
