The Hawaii Arc Ends with Silence and Depression
After spending weeks building up to the dramatic kiss in front of everyone, Episode 6 shows that the magic did not last. According to the official synopsis, Kazuya finds himself back in his apartment replaying the kiss in his head. He tries to reach out to Chizuru, but she completely ghosts him.

The college student who chased after Chizuru for so long is now a shut-in, convinced that she hates him for forcing the kiss.

While Kazuya hides in his room, Chizuru is not doing much better. The second half of the episode focuses on a crucial conversation between Chizuru and Mini. Mini catches up with the rental girlfriend and confronts her about why she has been ignoring Kazuya for months.
Chizuru admits that the reason she ghosted him is because she is completely conflicted about her feelings for him. She does not know how to act like a rental girlfriend anymore because her emotions are becoming real, and that scares her. Mini scolds her, telling her that ignoring him was the wrong move and that she needs to fix things.
This scene is important because Chizuru rarely speaks about her feelings out loud. For the first time, she openly acknowledges that the professional wall she built is broken. However, admitting she is confused is very different from actually going to talk to Kazuya.

The episode has sparked mixed feelings among the anime community. While many appreciate that the story is finally addressing the consequences of the kiss, others are frustrated that the characters are still taking one step forward and two steps back.
