The upcoming revenge fantasy anime A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even has set its official release date. The series will hit Japanese television on July 6, 2026. The announcement came alongside a fresh short trailer that gives viewers a better look at the angry heroine and her magical books.
The show, based on the popular light novel series written by Metabo Hagure, follows a noblewoman who gets thrown away by her kingdom. She does not cry or give up. Instead, she plans to destroy everything that hurt her.
New Trailer Shows a Brutal Heroine in Action
The newly released promotional video runs just under two minutes. It shows Elizabeth Leiston (voiced by Saori Onishi) going from a graceful noble to a prisoner with nothing left to lose. The trailer then shifts to her new identity as Ellie Leis, a smart and wealthy woman building power from the shadows.
Fans online reacted strongly to the trailer’s tone. One viewer on X wrote, “Finally an anime where the female lead is actually angry and stays angry.” Another comment said, “The animation looks clean and the magic fights seem fun.”
The trailer also revealed the opening theme song Q.E.D. performed by Yui Ogura. The ending theme Goodbye Lullaby comes from Aguri Onishi. Both tracks play in the background of the new footage, giving a taste of the show’s musical style.

Fans Can Watch Episode 1 Early at Anime Expo
Before the July 6 TV premiere, the first half of Episode 1 will show at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. REMOW, the company handling the license, will host an industry panel on July 4, 2026. Attendees at the convention get an early look at the show.
This kind of early screening often builds word-of-mouth before the official broadcast. For fans who cannot attend the convention, the regular broadcast starts just two days later.
Where to Watch A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even
The anime will first air on TV Tokyo, BS11, AT-X, and other Japanese channels starting July 6 at 10:30 p.m. JST. International streaming details have not been fully confirmed yet. However, given REMOW’s involvement and the show’s presence at Anime Expo, a global streaming release is expected shortly after the Japanese broadcast.
Viewers in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and India should watch for announcements from streaming services like Crunchyroll or other platforms. Past anime from similar production setups often appear on multiple services within 24 hours of the Japanese airing.
The Story Behind the Anger
The original story comes from the web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It started in October 2020 and won the HJ Novel Award 2021 in the first half. The light novel version, published by HOBBY JAPAN under the HJ Novels label, has released seven volumes so far. The manga adaptation, drawn by Oonoimo, has ten volumes as of March 2026.
The plot focuses on Elizabeth Leiston, the prime minister’s daughter and the crown prince’s fiancee. During a national celebration, the prince publicly ends their engagement and throws her in prison. He also spreads bad rumors about her. With nothing left but anger and seven powerful magic grimoires, Elizabeth escapes. She crosses the border and builds a new life as Ellie Leis. Her goal is simple: bring down the kingdom that betrayed her.
One reader on a forum described the main character as “ruthless and too perfect at times, but that makes the revenge feel satisfying.” Another person who read the novels said, “Volume one feels like a standard setup, but volume two gets better. The main character shows more weakness and grows.”

What Sets This Show Apart From Other Fantasy Anime
Many fantasy anime feature heroines who forgive their enemies or find love after a broken engagement. A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even does not follow that path. The main character stays angry. She uses her brain, her money, and her magical books to destroy people who hurt her.
The series mixes business-building elements with revenge plotting. Elizabeth does not just fight with magic. She builds companies, makes deals, and gathers powerful friends. She plays the long game. This mix of economic strategy and magical combat gives the show a different feel from standard fantasy titles.
The official description from the production team reads:
“You betrayed me. Now it’s your turn to pay. After being publicly dumped by the crown prince at a national celebration and thrown in prison, Elizabeth—once the pride of her kingdom—is left with nothing but rage and powerful grimoires. Betrayed by the country she gave everything to, she escapes across the border and reinvents herself as Ellie Leis, a savvy noble with a thirst for payback. Armed with the Seven Grimoires, Elizabeth builds a network of influence, wealth, and military might to bring her traitorous homeland to its knees.”
The first episode will air in Japan on July 6, 2026, with early screenings at Anime Expo on July 4.
