The week of June 1 through June 5, 2026, brought heavy emotional drama to Salem on Days of our Lives. Chanel Dupree received a breast cancer diagnosis while pregnant, leading to a heated fight with Johnny DiMera about chemotherapy. Lexie Carver showed possible side effects from Dr. Rolf’s experimental drug. Marlena Evans gave Xander Kook an ultimatum about his lawsuit against Johnny. Sarah Horton blamed herself after a patient died in front of her. And Gwen Rizczech made a dangerous move to steal the hospital from EJ DiMera.
Lexie’s Experimental Drug Treatment Shows Dangerous Side Effects
Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) has been enjoying her second chance at life after being brought back by Dr. Rolf’s experimental drug. But trouble started brewing this week. On Wednesday, Rolf (William Utay) called EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) with disturbing news. He believed there might be a serious problem with the drug .
Then on Friday, Lexie experienced a dizzy spell while alone in the living room. She swooned and stumbled, worrying everyone who has been rooting for her recovery . Earlier in the week, Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews) had told EJ that his mother was doing well. But EJ reminded Theo that Lexie’s recovery was unprecedented, and he seemed concerned .
Marlena (Deidre Hall) told Lexie and Abe Carver (James Reynolds) that she had received what she believed to be a sign from John Black (Drake Hogestyn). Lexie asked if there was a chance John could be revived, but Marlena confirmed the ISA had verified John was gone .
Chanel’s Cancer Diagnosis Creates Conflict with Johnny
Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) got the devastating news that she has an aggressive form of breast cancer while carrying her and Johnny’s baby. The diagnosis came last week, and this week the couple struggled with what to do next .
On Monday, Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) supported Chanel. But things got much harder on Tuesday. Chanel met with her oncologist, Dr. George, whose cold bedside manner upset her. He avoided her questions about long-term effects on the baby. Chanel announced she would not be pressured into treatment by a doctor who did not see her as a person .
Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel fought about the treatment. Chanel accused Johnny of taking the doctor’s side and called her concerns dismissed. She told Johnny she did not want him to prioritize her life over their baby’s life . Johnny argued that all her doctors agreed the planned treatment was the best chance to keep both mother and baby healthy.
“It’s like you don’t hear me at all,” Chanel yelled. She stressed that she had made her decision not to undergo chemo and it was final.
Chanel also pointed out that her meeting with Dr. George reminded her of how often the specific medical needs of black women get overlooked or dismissed. Paulina stepped in and urged Chanel to get a second opinion from a doctor who would treat her with respect. Chanel reluctantly agreed. She promised that if the new doctor answered her questions thoroughly and agreed with the treatment plan, she would start before the baby was born .
Abe learned about Chanel’s diagnosis from Theo on Friday. He hugged Paulina and apologized for not being in touch. Paulina said she understood .
Marlena Gives Xander an Ultimatum About the Lawsuit
Marlena took a firm stand with Xander Kook (Paul Telfer) this week. On Tuesday, she told Xander he needed to drop the lawsuit against Johnny and apologize. If he refused, she would stop treating him as a patient .
Xander argued that Marlena’s ultimatum was extortion. But Marlena explained that part of Xander’s therapy was to move beyond his cycle of abuse and regret. She promised that if Xander dropped the lawsuit, she would continue to treat him and would also work at Basic Black with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) .
Xander left Kate a voicemail warning her that he was going to drop the lawsuit, which might expose her secret to Roman Brady (Josh Taylor). Xander expressed concern for Kate’s marriage if the truth came out, but Marlena argued that Roman had a right to know .
Sarah Horton Blames Herself After a Patient Dies
Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) had a devastating week at the free clinic. On Tuesday, she treated a patient named Destiny and dismissed her pain as dehydration from a stomach bug. The patient walked out upset .
Later, Sarah ran into Destiny again in the town square. The woman collapsed right in front of her. JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) and Javi helped Sarah treat Destiny at the scene, but she died. JJ told Sarah that Destiny had a history of drug use, but Sarah insisted the patient had not been high when she examined her .
Sarah felt completely responsible for Destiny’s death. Xander took her home to help distract her, and they spent the evening playing with their daughter. But Sarah could not let it go. She learned that Destiny’s sister had been involved with Liam and had also died of an overdose. Sarah reached out to Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) for help investigating Destiny’s case .
Sarah also found herself torn between two lovers. She dreamed that Xander told her he had decided to live in the mansion permanently, and they declared their love for one another. In the dream, Brady interrupted an intimate moment. When Sarah woke up, her conflicted feelings for the two men remained unresolved .
Gwen Makes a Bold Move to Take the Hospital from EJ
Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) launched a major scheme against EJ this week. She gave Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) an exclusive story about her history with EJ and Rolf’s drug. Gwen also gave Leo a letter from her lawyer that he should use to expose EJ if she died. She admitted Leo was the only person she trusted to handle the matter .
Paulina informed EJ that the state medical board had taken the first step to remove the hospital from his control. When EJ noted there was no buyer, Paulina told him that Gwen wanted to buy it. EJ confronted Gwen about her maneuver to steal the hospital from him. She warned him that she had made arrangements to expose EJ if she turned up dead .
Meanwhile, Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) told Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) about the trap she had set for EJ. She promised to deliver Rolf’s drug to the ISA and not use it on her mother. However, Mark found that the main rat in the drug study had died. Rolf told EJ he was concerned about a problem with the drug . Rafe warned Cat that if she went rogue again, they would be done. He stressed that the promise of the drug was too great to allow it to fall into the wrong hands .
Marlena, Belle, and Brady Remember John on the Anniversary of His Passing
Thursday marked the emotional anniversary of John Black’s passing. Marlena, Belle Black (Martha Madison), and Brady came together to remember the man they loved. Roman and Kate also reconnected during this difficult time .
Over family dinner, Marlena showed her kids a coin she had found at John’s gravesite. She said she believed it was a message from John that he would always be near. Belle felt hopeful that John might somehow be alive, but Brady confirmed the DNA test on John’s ashes was conclusive .
Other Salem News: Gabi’s Inheritance, Julie’s Date, and EJ’s Request to Theo
Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) updated Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) about her inheritance, but Philip refused to take any money. Xander later warned Gabi that he would pursue charges against her for corporate espionage if she did not give Titan the money .
Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) went on an awkward first date with Foster . Leo ran into JJ and Javi in the square. JJ told Leo he was a new EMT with the department. Leo told Javi he hoped things worked out the way he wanted with Gus .
EJ asked Theo if he would be interested in returning to DiMera to help Johnny. Theo was shocked to hear about Chanel’s diagnosis. Theo said he was interested in the job. Lexie had earlier told Theo that she was proud of him and did not think he should have given up the CEO job. She believed Theo could do something better for the DiMera name.
