The new Japanese sci-fi crime thriller Human Vapor has arrived on Netflix, bringing a fresh take on Toho’s 1960 cult classic. Shun Oguri Plays Detective Kenji Okamoto

Yu Aoi, who appeared in the drama Asura alongside her Human Vapor co-star Suzu Hirose, plays Kyoko Kono. Kono is a chief reporter at Japan News Television who witnesses a shocking murder during a live interview.
She starts her own investigation into the killings, discovering important clues about the crimes. Her connection to Detective Okamoto creates tension as both characters pursue the same case from different angles.
Suzu Hirose and Kento Hayashi Play Streamer Siblings
Suzu Hirose, famous for Nemesis and The Girl’s Speech, portrays Kaho, a livestreamer who becomes involved in the investigation. Her character works alongside her brother Fujita, played by Kento Hayashi, known for A Bright Tomorrow and Malice.
The duo works together to find more clues to solve the mystery of the person who turns into gas.
The siblings bring a modern perspective to the story, using their platform to gather information and help solve the case.
Uta Uchiha Makes Acting Debut as Human Vapor
Model Uta Uchiha takes on the role of the mysterious killer at the center of the story. This marks his acting debut, and he portrays an antagonist who can disappear instantly by transforming into gas.

Yutaka Takenouchi Plays Former Yakuza Turned Businessman

The visual effects are handled by Shirogumi, the Academy Award-winning team that worked on Godzilla Minus One. This marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Toho Studios.
The series reimagines the 1960 film directed by Ishirล Honda, who also directed the original Godzilla. The original film, known in Japan as Gasu Ningen Daiichigล, was the third and final entry in Toho’s Transforming Human Series.
