The tvN weekend drama continues to perform well in ratings. Episode 9 recorded an average nationwide rating of 6.1% and peaked at 7.6%, according to Nielsen Korea. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the episode averaged 5.9% and reached a high of 7.5%. The drama ranked No. 1 in its time slot across all channels, including public broadcasters.

Yeo-ri and Gang-uk Get Engaged

Episode 9 opens with Ma Gang-uk (Yang Se-jong) and Yeo-ri getting engaged and sharing a kiss, while Min-hwan watches them from a distance and leaves. The engagement ceremony brings happiness to the couple, but complications quickly follow.

Hee-won, Min-hwan’s mother, secretly appears at the venue. Because of her connection to Yeo-ri’s family, she chooses to watch the engagement from afar. Min-hwan is shocked to see his mother there, as she had lied about still being in New York.

After the ceremony, Gang-uk takes Yeo-ri to the moonlight bridge to celebrate. He recalls holding her hand for the first time and thinks about how her ability to see ghosts has brought them closer. Yeo-ri tells Gang-uk that she wants to find out what really happened on the yacht that caused her condition. Gang-uk promises to help her uncover the truth.

The Shareholder Battle Intensifies

While Yeo-ri enjoys her engagement, a serious business fight unfolds at Reina. Gye-hee and her allies are working to remove Yeo-ri from the CEO position through a shareholders’ meeting. Director Gong agrees to support Gye-hee, putting Yeo-ri’s side in danger.

Yeo-ri and her grandmother, Chairwoman Baek, discover they are 3% short of the shares needed to secure a majority. Manager Bong suggests using evidence about Gye-hee’s secret funds against her, but Yeo-ri knows that accusations will not help unless they can prove them.

Both sides begin contacting shareholders to win their support. Yeo-ri asks Gang-uk to give her some space to focus on work, but he worries about her.

Min-hwan Admits His Feelings

Min-hwan admits that he still has feelings for Yeo-ri. He tells Ha-ri that he fell in love with her when they were younger and intends to try to win her back.

“Min-hwan explains how he fell for Yeo-ri when they were younger and says that he will try his best to win her back.”

Min-hwan asks his secretary to look into Hee-won’s return from New York. He also asks Director Gong to speak to Gye-hee about the board meeting so Yeo-ri can be removed from the CEO position.

Meanwhile, Hee-won’s knowledge about Yeo-ri and Ji-hwan’s past relationship creates another problem. She learns that Yeo-ri and Ji-hwan were classmates and becomes suspicious that Gang-uk has been hiding important information from her.

Yeo-ri Travels to Singapore

Yeo-ri focuses on Han Se-in, whose family owns Chaeum Artrion. Hoping to convince Se-in to support her, Yeo-ri travels to Singapore, where Se-in is attending an art-related event.

But things go badly. Se-in tells Yeo-ri that she has already sold her Reina shares for twice their value and refuses to reveal who bought them. Yeo-ri later discovers that Min-hwan was secretly the person who made the deal with Se-in.

“Han said someone else had already approached her and rejected Yeo-ri’s proposal, cutting off what appeared to be her best route out of the crisis.”

The setback was no coincidence. Min-hwan, still bitter after Yeo-ri rejected him, had been working behind the scenes to isolate her and derail every possible solution.

Gang-uk Follows Yeo-ri to Singapore

Just as Yeo-ri appeared to be out of options, Gang-uk arrived in Singapore. He had uncovered a crucial piece of information that could persuade Han to reconsider.

His unexpected appearance brought an immediate smile to Yeo-ri’s face, and the couple clasped hands through their gloves—a small gesture that carried more weight because of the curse keeping them apart. Gang-uk’s arrival made clear that the romance has become a true partnership. Yeo-ri is no longer fighting Min-hwan’s schemes alone.

Gang-uk worked through the night to help her fight back, then followed her to Singapore with the one lead that could save her position at Reina Hotel. Their relationship became one of the episode’s main highlights, with Gang-uk showing his dependable side as a boyfriend while Yeo-ri continued fighting to protect her career.

New Complications Arise

The episode also introduced new challenges. Gang-uk’s grandmother, Paeng Myo-soon (Cha Mi-kyung), discovered that Yeo-ri was born in a “Black Monkey” year—an astrological pairing she considers deeply incompatible with her grandson. The revelation also exposed Gang-uk’s earlier lie, setting up a new confrontation at home.

“With Min-hwan attacking Yeo-ri’s career and Myo-soon preparing to challenge the relationship, the couple’s new alliance will be tested on both professional and personal fronts.”

The curse hanging over Yeo-ri still prevents them from touching with their bare hands. Rather than dampen the date, the restriction made their quiet hope more meaningful: one day, they want to walk down the street holding hands without gloves, fear or consequences.

What Happened on the Yacht?

Yeo-ri’s past showed that Min-hwan was not always a villainous character. When he realised his brother Ji-hwan was also in love with Yeo-ri, he initially did not try to come between them. However, something happened on the yacht that caused an accident and had both Ji-hwan and Yeo-ri fall into the water.

Weirdly enough, the pendant that was supposed to save Ji-hwan ended up in Min-hwan’s hands. He also denied having it when Yeo-ri asked for it. Min-hwan might not have killed his brother, but he most likely did not even try to save him. Even though Yeo-ri has no memory of what actually happened, she will most likely remember it soon.

The pendant mystery and the yacht incident could receive further explanation in upcoming episodes, potentially connecting some of the unanswered questions surrounding Yeo-ri’s past.

The Series Continues Its Strong Run

Spooky in Love is planned as a 12-episode series, with new episodes released every Saturday and Sunday. The show will wrap up with its finale on August 23.

Episode 10 aired on August 16 and is expected to put the romance between Yeo-ri and Gang-uk firmly in the spotlight while continuing Yeo-ri’s workplace challenges. Newly released stills highlight the couple’s romantic moments in Singapore, with Gang-uk traveling all the way from Korea to Singapore and coming up with a playful solution that allows him to hold Yeo-ri’s hand safely.

The series continues to gain attention for both its ratings performance and the chemistry between Park Eun-bin and Yang Se-jong.
