BTS member Jimin has created a touching memory for a young fan battling cancer during the group’s “Arirang” world tour stop in Arlington, Texas. The moment, which took place on August 15, 2026, at the AT&T Stadium, has since gone viral across social media platforms and inspired BTS fans worldwide to open their wallets for a good cause.
The young fan, identified as Olivya, attended the concert through Heroes for Children, a Texas-based nonprofit organization that provides financial and social support to children fighting pediatric cancer and their families. Olivya, who has been battling cancer for over a year, was among five young cancer patients and their loved ones who were given a VIP suite experience at the show.
During the performance, Jimin spotted Olivya near the barricade and made his way over to her. He handed her a limited edition plush keychain, gently patted her head, then gave her a warm hug and a kiss on the cheek.
The young fan’s reaction was pure joy. Visibly stunned and excited, Olivya repeatedly exclaimed:
“I got a kiss! I got a kiss! I got a kiss!”
She then turned to look at photos she had recorded of the encounter, still in disbelief about what had just happened. Her mother shared that Olivya was so excited and still could not believe her interaction with Jimin.
“She is so inspiring and encouraging. She never lets herself feel different or self-conscious because she has no hair,” Olivya’s mother said. “You can see that in her smile. No words could ever express how grateful I am.”
Heroes for Children Shares Video of Jimin’s Interaction With Young Fan
Heroes for Children uploaded a video of the interaction on its official social media channels after the concert. The organization expressed its gratitude to BTS for giving Olivya such a special experience.
“Still not over this moment. Thank you BTS for giving our girl Olivya the sweetest hug at last night’s concert in Arlington! A core memory she’ll never forget,” the organization wrote in a social media post.
The video quickly spread across the internet, gathering over five million views in less than 24 hours. The clip introduced many viewers to Heroes for Children and its mission of supporting families affected by pediatric cancer.
Make-A-Wish Foundation Helped Bring Children to the Concert
According to reports, Olivya and other children were invited to attend the BTS concert through the Make-A-Wish program, an international charity that grants wishes for children with critical illnesses. This program works to fulfill wishes for children living with serious illnesses, making moments like these possible.
The Arlington concert held special significance as it took place on August 15, which is Korea’s Liberation Day, commemorating the country’s liberation from Japanese rule in 1945. Jimin also drew attention that day with his stage outfit, which featured colors and patterns resembling the Taegeukgi, the South Korean national flag.
BTS Fans Donate Thousands to Heroes for Children After Viral Moment
The touching interaction between Jimin and Olivya did more than just warm hearts. It inspired BTS fans, known as ARMY, to take action and support Heroes for Children.
A person who identified themselves as the husband of a Heroes for Children staff member posted on Reddit, expressing amazement at what happened. According to the post, after the video of Jimin handing the keychain to Olivya went viral, Heroes for Children started receiving donations from fans all over the world.
What made this especially remarkable was that none of this was planned, and nobody asked for donations. The donations came entirely through the spontaneous participation of fans.
The Reddit user also shared a surprising comparison. In the past year, a country singer had held a charity concert for Heroes for Children, and the total amount raised from that event was less than one-quarter of what BTS fans donated without any request.
Heroes for Children launched a fundraising campaign with a target of $50,000 to produce more meaningful experiences for children facing cancer and their loved ones in the region.
“There are more children who deserve time away from the hospital, more parents who deserve to see their child experience uncomplicated joy, and more families who deserve opportunities to create memories that are about who they are — not simply what they are going through,” the nonprofit stated.
The funds will also go toward critical financial relief to ease the burdens of pediatric cancer, as well as tangible support and essential items to ease the cancer journey.
It did not take long for ARMY from all over the world to contribute. Within a couple of days, the campaign hit its target of $50,000 and continues to receive funds.
