The sixth episode of Reacher Season 4, titled “Plum Out of Luck,” throws Jack Reacher and his team into their most dangerous situation of the season. The episode picks up immediately after the cliffhanger from Episode 5, where Lila Hoth held Jacob at knifepoint, demanding the flash drive that everyone has been hunting for. What follows is an action-packed hour that leaves almost every main character in serious trouble. The episode, which dropped on Prime Video on September 2, 2026, shows Reacher losing the drive, losing his freedom, and facing a deadly setup in the middle of nowhere.
The Restaurant Standoff Turns Into a Three-Way War
The episode opens with Lila Hoth (Agnez Mo) holding a knife to Jacob Merrick’s (Christopher Rodriguez Marquette) throat while Amisha Hoth (Anggun) provides backup. Reacher (Alan Ritchson) has the flash drive, but Jacob’s life is on the line. Reacher reluctantly puts the drive by his foot and tells Lila to come get it, buying a few seconds.
Then everything goes wrong. Russell Plum (Kevin Weisman), the researcher who has been helping the team, walks into the middle of the hostage situation. At the same time, a third group of masked mercenaries attacks the location with smoke grenades and gunfire. The restaurant turns into a chaotic three-way fight between Reacher’s team, the Hoths, and the unknown attackers.
In the confusion, Jacob breaks free from Lila’s grip. But Plum catches a bullet in the chest, leaving him seriously wounded. The Hoths manage to escape through a secret exit with the flash drive. Reacher and Tamara Green (Sydelle Noel) give chase but lose them. The drive is gone, and Plum is bleeding out.
Jacob Takes a Risk That Backfires
With Plum badly injured, Jacob feels responsible and decides to take him to the hospital. Reacher and Tamara warn against it because their faces are now all over the news as wanted fugitives. But Jacob won’t let Plum die, so he drives off with him.
Before they leave, Plum weakly tells the group that the man in the mysterious photo is named Leo Ahlquist. This gives Reacher and Tamara their next lead.
At the hospital, things go from bad to worse. Two officers immediately question Jacob about Plum’s gunshot wound. Jacob tries to play it off as being caught in crossfire. But when his picture pops up on a police alert, he is forced to run. He escapes the hospital but ends up alone and out of options.
Jacob calls his Uncle Monty (Nick Searcy) for help. Monty agrees to pick him up but only on one condition: Jacob must speak to a lawyer afterwards. When Monty arrives, he keeps Jacob talking long enough for Detective Docherty (Kevin Corrigan) to show up and arrest him. Jacob is taken into custody, but Docherty has previously indicated to Reacher that he might be willing to help. The episode leaves Jacob’s fate uncertain.
Reacher and Tamara Hunt for Leo Ahlquist
Meanwhile, Reacher and Tamara are on the run. Their photos are plastered everywhere, making them wanted fugitives. They figure out that Leo Ahlquist is the CEO of Plutus Chemical, and his headquarters is about 90 minutes away in Dover.
To avoid being spotted, the pair stow away under suitcases on a bus heading to Dover. During the ride, Tamara opens up about why she left the police force. She explains that she once arrested the son of a wealthy donor who had assaulted a waitress, despite her superiors telling her to drop the case. The arrest ruined her career, and she became apathetic about her job. But working with Reacher on this case has brought back her drive.
When Reacher and Tamara arrive at Plutus Chemical, they find Leo Ahlquist (Shawn Doyle) upstairs destroying evidence. He has been tipped off that Reacher would show up. Leo sends his secretary to get his “lawyer,” who is actually one of the mercenaries from the bowling alley. The mercenaries arrive and hold Reacher and Tamara at gunpoint.
The Ending Cliffhanger Leaves Everyone in Danger
The episode ends with Reacher and Tamara being overpowered by Ahlquist’s mercenaries. Instead of killing them on the spot, the mercenaries load the pair into a transport truck and drive them deep into the woods. When the truck stops and the doors swing open, Reacher and Tamara are staring down the barrel of multiple guns. The episode cuts to black before revealing what happens next.
Meanwhile, Jacob is in police custody, and Plum is in the hospital fighting for his life. Every member of Reacher’s team is in serious danger. The title “Plum Out of Luck” applies to everyone, not just Russell Plum.
The episode also shows what happens with the flash drive. The Hoths arrive in Philadelphia for some kind of illegal auction. They use an AI to crack a code built into the drive, but it is unclear what information it actually contains.
