What The Remarried Empress Is About

The story follows Navier (Shin Min Ah) , the respected empress of the Eastern Empire. She has what looks like a perfect marriage to Emperor Sovieshu. But everything changes when Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon) falls for Rashta (Lee Se Young) , a runaway slave. The emperor’s growing feelings for Rashta destroy his marriage to Navier.

The teaser trailer shows Sovieshu telling Navier, “No matter what happens, you are my only wife”. But soon after, he admits, “I missed you Rashta”. Navier watches her marriage fall apart but refuses to break down. When Sovieshu asks for a divorce, Navier does something unexpected. She agrees to the divorce but makes her own demand. She wants permission to marry Crown Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Kingdom. She states clearly, “I will accept the divorce. And I demand that I can remarry”.

How Lee Jong Suk’s Character Changes Everything

Lee Jong Suk plays Heinrey, the crown prince of the Western Kingdom. He carries a mysterious secret and draws attention wherever he goes. Heinrey can secretly turn into a bird and uses this ability to spy on the Eastern Empire’s palace. While in his bird form, he meets and falls for Empress Navier.

Heinrey comes from a rival kingdom, which makes his relationship with Navier complicated. He approaches her with hidden motives at first, but slowly develops real feelings for her. His presence in Navier’s life creates tension with Sovieshu. The teaser shows Sovieshu’s jealousy growing as Heinrey gets closer to Navier. Lee Jong Suk brings a mysterious charm to the role. This marks his return to television since his role in Big Mouth in 2022.

Lee Se Young’s Character Creates the Conflict

Lee Se Young plays Rashta, the escaped slave who becomes the center of Sovieshu’s attention. Rashta goes from being a runaway to suddenly gaining status and power within the royal court. She appears determined to make the most of her new position.
