The second season of Chad Powers dropped all six episodes on September 3, 2026, and viewers are still processing that wild finale. While most of the attention went to backup quarterback Gerry (Colton Ryan) and his plan to expose Russ Holliday (Glen Powell), the season’s real game-changing moment belongs to someone else entirely.
Tricia Yeager (Wynn Everett), the wealthy booster who runs the South Georgia Catfish support organization, walks away from the finale as the biggest threat to Russ and his secret identity. Here is what happened and why it matters more than anything Gerry did all season.
Gerry’s Plan Falls Apart
Throughout Season 2, Gerry grew more suspicious of Chad Powers. He broke into Russ and Danny’s house, stole the prosthetics used to disguise Russ as Chad, and demanded that Russ throw the final regular season game against Texas. Gerry placed a $200,000 bet on Chad playing a historically bad game.
But Russ, with help from Ricky (Perry Mattfeld), chose to win the game instead. Gerry stormed the field in anger and got knocked out by Tricia’s security guard. The immediate threat seemed neutralized.
Tricia Already Knows Everything
Here is where the real twist hits. Danny (Frankie A. Rodriguez) had already told Tricia the truth about Chad Powers. He asked for her help keeping Russ’s identity secret. She agreed – but she has her own plans.
In the finale’s final minutes, Tricia’s security guard approaches Russ and says that Chad Powers has been acquired by Yeager Family Foods. Then he drops the bombshell: Mr. Holliday, your face.
Russ and Ricky immediately realise the guard knows exactly who Chad really is.
What Tricia Wants
Unlike Gerry, who wanted to expose Russ and destroy his reputation, Tricia does not want to expose him at all. She wants to keep Chad Powers around.
Tricia has offered to move Russ and Danny onto her ranch to keep them safe. She wants to make sure Russ stays as Chad for a long time. The finale does not explain exactly why she wants this, and that is what makes her the most dangerous person in Russ’s life.
Wynn Everett, who plays Tricia, said her character is getting quite close to the situation. She added that if Tricia found out about Chad’s secret, she would keep that lie forever.
Other Cliffhangers Left Hanging
The finale leaves several other questions unanswered.
Russ and Ricky finally shared their first kiss after Ricky helped fix his slipping prosthetic. But Ricky has accepted a coaching job in Syracuse and was supposed to leave. The two admitted their feelings, but her departure hangs over everything.
Then Coach Hudson (Steve Zahn) burst through the locker room door just as Ricky was peeling off more of Russ’s disguise. The episode cuts to black before showing whether Hudson recognised Russ. Steve Zahn said the moment is left very vague.
Glen Powell described the relationship this way: when you are a football player, you are only as good as your last game. The essence of a good relationship is two people rooting for each other, even when it is tragic.

What This Means for Russ
Russ created the Chad Powers identity to get a second chance at football. But Season 2 shows that people are now after him in different ways. Some want to expose him. Others, like Tricia, want to use him and his new identity for their own benefit.
The biggest question coming out of the finale is whether Russ still controls his own identity or whether Chad Powers has become something he cannot walk away from.
As of now, Hulu has not renewed the show for a third season. But if it does return, Tricia Yeager will likely be at the center of whatever comes next.
