The devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has become one of the biggest surprise hits of 2026 in India. Now, the film is set to reach audiences around the world. Hombale Films, the production company behind massive blockbusters like KGF and Kantara, has taken over the international distribution of the movie. The film will release in overseas markets on September 11, 2026.
The movie, which tells the story of the spiritual leader Neem Karoli Baba (also known as Maharaj-ji), started its journey in Indian theatres on August 7, 2026. It opened to a very modest collection of around Rs 10 lakh on its first day. But word of mouth changed everything. By its fourth week, the film was earning more than big-budget star-driven movies.
Hombale Films Steps In for Worldwide Release
On Thursday, Hombale Films announced that it would distribute Hanuman Ansh internationally through its arm, Hombale Overseas. The production house is known for backing some of the biggest Indian film franchises in recent years, including KGF, Kantara, and Salaar. The company will work with local partner Phars Film for the worldwide theatrical release.
“A story rooted in faith. A journey beyond borders. We, @hombalefilms, are proud to take #HanumanAnsh to international audiences through @HombaleOverseas. The spiritual journey of Maharaj-ji reaches the world, as @hanumanansh arrives worldwide on September 11, 2026.”
The announcement marks an unusual move. A major production house is supporting a small-budget film after its content already connected with audiences in India.
From Rs 10 Lakh Opening to Rs 72 Crore Success
Hanuman Ansh was made on a reported budget of around Rs 2 crore. Its box office journey in India has been nothing short of remarkable.
The film collected only Rs 1.08 crore during its entire first week. Its second week was even quieter, earning around Rs 40 lakh. But the narrative changed dramatically in the third week. Positive word of mouth pushed its collections to approximately Rs 10.40 crore. The momentum exploded during the fourth weekend, with the film earning Rs 6.25 crore on Friday, Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday, and Rs 12.75 crore on Sunday.
By Day 26, the film had accumulated Rs 54.13 crore net in India. By Day 28, its India net collection reached Rs 72.88 crore, with the India gross standing at Rs 85.97 crore.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh called it “the biggest success story of 2026”.
The Story Behind Hanuman Ansh
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh follows the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, a spiritual figure revered by devotees as an incarnation of Lord Hanuman. The film’s synopsis positions Baba as a saint who remains untouched by power, politics, ownership, and praise.
The cast includes Shobhinaw Satyaa (playing Neem Karoli Baba), Vihaan Shedge (playing Maharaj Ji in another stage of the story), along with Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil K Rastogi, and Gulshan Pandey.
The movie was produced under the SWAMbhu Media Network banner by Ragini S, Namrata G Singh, Anupriya A Nagar, and Vishal Chaturvedi.
Global Interest in Neem Karoli Baba
Neem Karoli Baba’s spiritual legacy has long attracted followers from around the world. Several well-known international figures have been associated with his teachings.
Steve Jobs visited India in 1974 while seeking spiritual guidance and travelled to Kainchi Dham, the ashram in Uttarakhand closely linked to the saint. Mark Zuckerberg later visited Kainchi Dham, reportedly following advice from Jobs. Actress Julia Roberts has also spoken about the influence of Neem Karoli Baba on her spiritual journey.
In India, cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma have also visited Kainchi Dham.
This global connection gives Hanuman Ansh a natural appeal for international audiences, especially those familiar with the saint’s influence and India’s growing interest in spiritual and devotional cinema.

What to Expect from the Global Release
The film will arrive in theatres worldwide on September 11, 2026. With its international distribution now handled by Hombale Overseas, the movie is set to reach markets across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Given its strong performance in India, industry observers expect the film’s total worldwide gross to potentially cross the Rs 150 crore milestone.
Director Vishal Chaturvedi has noted that the project did not receive significant industry support during its initial stages. The reception shifted dramatically following the film’s commercial success. Now, with Hombale Films backing its international release, Hanuman Ansh is ready to take the story of Maharaj-ji to audiences far beyond India’s borders.
