Ted Lasso Tries a Dating App and Gets Stuck on Three Words
Ted decides the new year calls for new bravery, so he downloads a dating app called Bantr. The very first prompt asks him to describe himself in three words, and he freezes. He stares at the screen, types nothing, and closes the app again and again.
He eventually asks Keeley Jones (played by Juno Temple) for help. Together they fill out the rest of the profile, but the three-word question remains unanswered. When Ted finally tries, the words he picks are actually meant for Keeley: hopeful, resilient, and kind. He admits those words describe her, not him.
Later that night, alone with his thoughts, Ted lands on something simpler: “I am lovable.” He completes the profile, then deletes the app anyway and heads to the theatre instead. The episode ends with Ted trying to find Charlotte Riley’s stage manager, only to learn she has just started seeing someone she met on a dating app.
Alice Chilton Says Yes to Everything and It Backfires
Alice Chilton (played by Tanya Reynolds) starts the episode feeling defeated after recent events. She listens to a self-help podcast and decides to say yes to everything as a new approach to life. The timing is terrible. Lizzie wants to bring her son to training. Gemma needs to miss practice for a law firm interview. Alice says yes to both.
The team quickly catches on and starts making stranger requests, including playing barefoot and blindfolded. Training becomes directionless. Ted and Coach Beard step in and suggest a tweak: instead of just “yes,” try “yes, and.” That small change lets Alice add her own input instead of simply agreeing to everything.
Alice tests it with Shannon, who asks to train with the main players. Alice says yes and tells her to give her best. The practice goes well, and the shift works.
The Believe Sign Gets a New Addition
The original “Believe” sign, a gift from Michelle, makes its way to the women’s locker room. Ted puts it above the entrance where it used to hang for the men’s team. The Lady Greyhounds push back. Belief does not pay rent or fix a difficult home life. They are a second-division team with players working other jobs to get by.
Alice steps in and adds two words under the sign: “And win.” The moment lands quietly but carries weight. For this new Richmond team, believing is not enough on its own. They have to win too, both on the pitch and in life.
Zelda Southport Earns a Permanent Role at Richmond
Rebecca Welton (played by Hannah Waddingham) and Leslie Higgins (played by Jeremy Swift) face a problem with Dani Rojas’ agent, Derrick Tarp. He claims Dani has an offer from Newcastle and threatens to take his client elsewhere unless he gets more money.
Zelda Southport (played by Tracey Ullman) steps in. She puts on a Chicago accent and tricks Derrick into revealing that Newcastle never made an offer. It was a bluff. Once Zelda threatens to report him for his cheap tricks, he backs off completely.
Rebecca sees Zelda’s value and offers her a permanent position as Special Adviser to the club. Zelda accepts.
Roy Kent and Erin Beaumont Break Up
Roy Kent (played by Brett Goldstein) is still recovering from a knee procedure and arrives at work on a scooter. Dr. Erin Beaumont (played by Laura Haddock) comes to check on him, but Roy spends the entire visit complaining about Keeley.
Erin calls it out plainly. She tells him their relationship has run its course because he is clearly still in love with Keeley. Roy tries to explain, but he cannot deny it. The two break up on good terms.
Roy admits he never expected to connect with Erin the way he did, but he understands why it has to end. The breakup clears the path for Roy to face his feelings for Keeley directly.
