Ektaa Kapoor is bringing two of Indian television’s most familiar faces together for the first time. Gaurav Khanna and Shraddha Arya will lead her next Star Plus fiction show, titled Dil Ki Bewafaiyaan. The family drama is being readied for a post-Diwali launch, tentatively in the last week of November 2026, and is likely to take the 9 pm primetime slot on Star Plus. The show marks Khanna’s return to daily fiction after Anupamaa and Arya’s comeback to a full-time TV role after Kundali Bhagya.
What is the show called and when will it air?
The title Dil Ki Bewafaiyaan was confirmed by Hindustan Times on October 30, 2026, ending weeks of speculation that followed a teaser released earlier in the month. A source close to the production told HT that the show is “currently being prepared for a post-Diwali launch, tentatively in the last week of November”.
The same report states that the team is revamping the set earlier used for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, and the new show is “likely to take over the 9 pm slot on Star Plus”. An earlier report from Tellyexpress had pointed to a tentative launch in the second week of November, but the more recent HT update places the window at the end of the month. Star Plus has not issued a formal premiere date announcement yet.
Who is in the cast?
Gaurav Khanna plays Manav, described in reports as a business tycoon, while Shraddha Arya plays Janaki. The supporting cast is still coming together. Aanchal Soni, who was recently seen in Balaji’s Naagin 7 and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, is reportedly joining the show in an important role.
Khanna became a household name as Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa, a role he played for over three years before exiting in December 2024 after the show took a 15-year leap. Since then, he won Bigg Boss 19, won the first season of Celebrity MasterChef India in April 2025, and appeared on Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.
Arya headlined Kundali Bhagya as Dr Preeta Arora Luthra from its launch in 2017 until its conclusion in December 2024. She married Indian Navy officer Rahul Nagal and welcomed twins, a son Shaurya and a daughter Siya, on November 29, 2024. Dil Ki Bewafaiyaan is her second collaboration with Balaji Telefilms after Kundali Bhagya.
What is the story about?
Plot details are still under wraps, but multiple reports describe the project as a romantic family drama with romance and comedy at its core. The show is being developed by Balaji Telefilms for Star Plus and is positioned as a fresh pairing for Indian daily soap audiences.
Why is this pairing special?
Ektaa Kapoor has said she wanted to bring Gaurav Khanna and Shraddha Arya together for a long time. In a statement shared across publications, the producer said:
“Both have earned so much love from viewers, and I’ve wanted to see them share the screen for a long time. Now that it’s finally happening, I’m excited, nervous, and already imagining how audiences will react to them together.”
The two actors performed a Durga Puja ceremony on the set on October 21, 2026, dressed in traditional white outfits, signalling the start of production. A teaser filmed at the Balaji Telefilms office showed them arriving together and smiling through paparazzi questions without revealing details.
What happened to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2?
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, the revival of Ektaa Kapoor’s iconic 2000s show, aired its final episode on October 20, 2026, after completing 450 episodes. The show was originally planned for 167 episodes. Its 10:30 pm slot was taken over by the supernatural fantasy Apsara, starring Samiksha Jaiswal and Paras Kalnawat, from October 21, 2026.
The 9 pm slot that Dil Ki Bewafaiyaan is reportedly eyeing is separate from the one Apsara filled. Star Plus has not confirmed final scheduling.
What did Ektaa Kapoor say about the new show?
Ektaa Kapoor framed Dil Ki Bewafaiyaan as the next chapter for her television audience after the Kyunki finale. Her statement, carried by India Today, Hindustan Times, and Times of India, reads:
“Ek kahaani khatam hui hai, lekin surprises abhi baaki hain! After Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s big finale, everyone kept asking me, ‘Ektaa, what’s next?’ Well, I couldn’t leave viewers waiting for too long! I knew the next story had to be special, something that would make people sit up, feel deeply, and fall in love all over again.”
She also spoke about why television remains her home:
“Television will always be home for me. There’s something special about creating characters who become part of people’s everyday lives. That connection keeps me excited about every new story.”
