Diljit Dosanjh opened his AURA India Tour 2026 with a packed show in Delhi on October 30, but the night came with a message. Hours after performing for nearly 70,000 fans at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the Punjabi singer went live on Instagram and said a lot of people tried to stop the concert from happening. He did not name anyone, but he made his feelings clear about the people he says spread negativity around him.

The Delhi show was the first of eight performances on the India leg of his tour. It had faced uncertainty in the days leading up to the event, and Diljit used his post-show live session to address both the roadblocks and his critics in his usual direct style.

Diljit Dosanjh Says the Delhi Show Was Tough to Pull Off

Diljit spoke in Punjabi during the Instagram Live and said the Delhi concert was not easy to make happen. “We did the Delhi concert. It was tough. A lot of people tried to stop it, but we still did it,” he said. He did not go into the exact problems, but he made it clear that the obstacles were real.

“I don’t want to say what the problems were. I do shows all over the world. There are always problems. But when the India show starts, problems start, especially for me. I don’t know why.”

The singer also shared a lighter moment on social media after the show. He wrote that he had a direct word with God about the concert. “I even had a direct word with God about this! I spoke to Him over the phone. I told Him, ‘There’s a show coming up…’ Some people really tried hard to make sure the show wouldn’t happen!” he posted.

A Clear Message for People Who Spread Negative Energy

The Instagram Live session was not just about the concert. Diljit took aim at news channels and critics who he said create negative energy around him. He made it clear that their words do not affect his plans.

“I know a lot of people will make fun of me. Many news channels will also make fun of me and create negative energy. But no matter how much negative energy you create, I’m still here, baby. I’m not going anywhere.”

He added that he has been working in the industry for 25 years and will stop only when he decides to. “I’ll stop only when I want to. I won’t stop before that,” he said.

Diljit also explained that his silence toward criticism should not be mistaken for fear. “I don’t answer anyone’s questions, but that doesn’t mean I’m afraid of anyone or that I care about what anyone says. Nor does it mean that someone can stop me,” he said. He added that he knows what people say about him but chooses not to respond because those opinions are not important to him.

Why the Delhi Concert Faced Uncertainty

The Delhi show did not have a smooth path. Delhi Police had initially denied permission for the concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Officials cited security-related inputs and law-and-order commitments during the festive season. The organisers later submitted a revised plan covering security, traffic and crowd management, and clearance was granted.

Security concerns were also linked to a hoax bomb threat email that had been sent to several schools in Delhi earlier in the month. The email mentioned the concert, and law enforcement treated it seriously. Reports also said a threatening email warned of a possible suicide attack targeting a later show in Mumbai. Security at the Delhi venue was strengthened significantly as a result.

Rain added another layer of difficulty. The stage was still wet after two days of intermittent showers, but Diljit went ahead with a performance that lasted over two hours. According to BookMyShow, the full event ran for nearly six hours.

Diljit Thanks Delhi Police and CRPF

During the concert and in the live session, Diljit praised the Delhi Police and the CRPF for their work. He said their arrangements made it easy for his team to put on the show. “You made excellent arrangements and made it very easy for us to put on the show. Shout-out to Delhi Police and our young CRPF personnel. Thank you so much to all of you,” he said.

The singer also shared a moment with a female police officer on stage. He described her as a mother figure and said her presence reminded him of his own mother, who had called him that morning to ask him to take care.

Response to Criticism About the CJP Protest and Satluj

The Delhi concert also became a platform for Diljit to respond to criticism over his earlier comments about the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)-led student protest and the controversy around his film Satluj. He had distanced himself from the protest in July, and his remarks had drawn criticism from CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke.

During the show, Diljit repeated his position. “I love everyone because I’m an artist, bro,” he said. He also addressed the criticism directly: “I am being quiet, so let me stay quiet. I support all of you. Don’t teach Punjabis how to fight battles. The film you were making fun of from stage โ€” Jaswant Singh Khalra ji’s film (‘Satluj’). We fought for a very long time for that film. I stay quiet, I love everyone. If someone hates us, no problem. From our side it’s only love for everyone.”

The film, earlier titled Punjab ’95, features Diljit as Jaswant Singh Khalra, who documented alleged illegal killings and secret cremations in Punjab during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Bihar Concert Could Not Happen Due to Crowd Management

During the Instagram Live, a fan asked Diljit whether he would bring the AURA Tour to Bihar. The singer explained that a Bihar show was attempted twice but could not be worked out because of crowd management concerns.

“We tried to go to Bihar. We had attempted to go to Bihar last time as well. But they said it was difficult to manage the crowd. They asked if we would take responsibility for it. I said that we couldn’t; they would have to take that responsibility. Since they didn’t, we couldn’t go.”

He added that the crowd at his shows is not a small gathering and that managing it is a massive responsibility. “It’s not just a small gathering; it’s a massive crowd. I had to consider the logistics; it’s like organising an event in Delhi,” he said.

Fans Fill the Stadium and Share Their Reactions

The Delhi show drew close to 70,000 fans, filling Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to capacity. Fans came from as far as Dwarka and Gurugram, and some travelled from outside India. One fan told ANI that she had come from London specifically for the concert.

Social media was full of reactions after the show. One fan wrote, “Tuhadi Energy High Level Bhaji. Chaa Gya DOSANJHANWALEA.” Another posted, “Shut Down Shut Down Karaa Ditta Delhi DOSANJHANWALEA. Amazing Show Amazing Night.” A third fan shared, “Maddd energy. Enjoyyed it to the fullest !!!!”

Fans also praised a quieter moment from the concert. When Diljit brought a female CRPF officer on stage and compared her to his mother, one user on X wrote, “It was heart touching to see it like live. Respect.” Another tweeted, “So much to learn from youโ€ฆ the way you connect to the souls.”
