How The Love Is Blind Experiment Works
The format follows the same structure as the original US version. Singles enter individual pods separated by a thin wall and communicate through speakers without seeing each other. Over roughly 10 days, they build emotional connections through conversation alone.
If a connection feels strong enough, a proposal can happen before the couple ever meets face-to-face. After the engagement, couples travel together, move into shared apartments, meet each other’s families, and plan their weddings. At the altar, each person decides whether to say “I do” and enter a legal marriage.
The core question remains the same: can love truly be blind, and can a connection built without physical sight survive in the real world?
Meet Your Hosts: Nicolette van Dam And Bas Smit
Nicolette van Dam and Bas Smit are a well-known Dutch celebrity couple who have been together for nearly 20 years. They were announced as hosts on February 5, 2026.
In an interview with LINDA.loves, Van Dam shared her long-time connection to the show:
“Even before there was a Dutch version, Bas, the girls, and I were completely addicted to Love Is Blind.”
The couple has also spoken about what makes their own relationship work. Van Dam said the key is giving each other space and not making a big deal out of every small irritation.
