South Park returned for its 29th season on September 16, 2026, with a premiere that threw the town into a full-blown biker war. The episode, titled “South American Biker Gangs,” aired on Comedy Central and marked the show’s official rebrand to “South America” — a direct jab at President Donald Trump’s recent executive order renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America. What followed was a chaotic, classic-style South Park episode that pitted Randy Marsh and his crew of adult cyclists against Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny on electric bikes. By the end, Kenny died (again), the town united to ban e-bikes, and Randy’s crusade took a violent turn that no one saw coming.
The Name Change That Started It All
Ahead of the premiere, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced that the show would be known as “South America” moving forward. In a statement, the pair said, “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA“. The move mocked Trump’s August executive order that renamed Lake Ontario to Lake America, as well as similar geographic renamings like New Mexico becoming New America and the Gulf of Mexico becoming the Gulf of America.
The premiere’s opening credits featured an updated theme song with new vocals from Primus frontman Les Claypool, awkwardly fitting “South America” into the lyrics. A shot of a naked Donald Trump also appeared in the intro, continuing the show’s tradition of depicting the president in unflattering ways. Characters throughout the episode casually referred to their hometown as South America, treating the name change as if it had always been that way.
Cartman Gets an E-Bike and Becomes Unbearable
The episode kicked off with Cartman pretending to be bullied at school, a performance convincing enough that his mother bought him an expensive e-bike to help him exercise and deal with his problems . Cartman had no interest in fitness, though. He quickly turned the e-bike into a status symbol and used it to mock his friends, riding past Stan’s house to show off his new ride .
Stan, Kyle, and Kenny were understandably jealous. Their parents, however, refused to buy them e-bikes. Kyle and Kenny’s parents said no outright, while Stan’s mother balked at spending thousands of dollars on a bicycle. Randy, meanwhile, had his own reasons for opposing the machines. As a serious cyclist, he saw e-bikes as a threat to traditional cycling and an invasion of lanes meant for pedestrians.
The Cheap E-Bike Solution
Butters pointed Stan, Kyle, and Kenny toward City E-Bike, a local shop run by Lu Kim that sold extremely cheap Chinese e-bikes. The catch was serious: the batteries had a high chance of exploding. The salesman made the boys sign an absurd waiver accepting full responsibility for the danger before letting them ride away.
The risk did nothing to stop them. The boys finally had the freedom to travel around town without relying on their parents, and they reveled in it. Cartman, however, was not happy about everyone else getting e-bikes. The stage was set for a conflict between the kids and the adults.
Randy Forms a Violent Biker Gang
Randy’s frustration with e-bikes escalated quickly. He gathered 10 of his adult biker friends and formed a rival gang, claiming they were protecting the community and fulfilling a civic duty . But Randy’s group soon turned aggressive. While the children rode harmlessly, the adults destroyed property, intimidated businesses, and sought revenge against anyone associated with e-bikes .
The situation spiraled further when police accused the young riders of the destruction. Kenny stepped up and distanced himself from Cartman, telling Randy that the kids simply wanted to enjoy the freedom that came with their e-bikes. Randy and his group seemed to understand, and an uneasy truce was reached .
Kenny Dies in a Shocking Finale
Just when it seemed like the conflict was over, the episode took a dark turn. As Kenny was about to reach home, his e-bike exploded, killing him instantly. The death was a callback to the show’s classic running gag — Kenny has died more than 100 times throughout the series’ history. This time, however, his death had a purpose in the story. The town united in grief, coming together to outlaw e-bikes and begin selling “South America Strong” T-shirts.
Randy’s gang used Kenny’s death as an opportunity to push their anti-e-bike agenda further, folding the tragedy into their campaign. Grief became messaging, and the episode ended with a sarcastic song praising the town as if South America had always been its name.

IGN wrote that the focus shifted back to Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny, with Randy playing the role of a solipsistic doofus. The premiere also marked the first time Mike Judge reprised his role as Kenny since South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, delivering nearly two minutes of unmuffled dialogue . While the episode downplayed the heavy political satire of seasons 27 and 28, it still made its contempt for Trump’s name changes clear through constant casual mentions of the town’s new name. The premiere also featured implicit pleas for audiences to vote in the November midterms, with one character saying, “Hopefully things will be better in November,” before adding, “That’s when Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out” .
South Park Season 29 consists of six episodes, one more than seasons 27 and 28.
