One Piece Chapter 1196 raw scans are already circulating online ahead of the official release, and the chapter puts Sanji at the center of the Elbaf war. Titled “There’s No Worth in a Love that Longs for Death,” the chapter pits Sanji against Saint Killingham of the Holy Knights, whose Dream Output ability pulls Sanji’s greatest fear into reality. That fear is not Judge, not his brothers, and not the Germa Kingdom. It is Emporio Ivankov, the Revolutionary Army commander who once saw through Sanji’s self-destructive idea of love during the two-year timeskip.

One Piece Chapter 1196 Spoilers: Sanji vs. Killingham and the Dream Output
The chapter opens with Sanji trying to bury the memories of Kamabakka Kingdom. Killingham keeps stabbing him with Longinus, the Holy Knight’s spear, and taunts him about how a cook needs his arms. Killingham even suggests that Sanji should beg Luffy for help. Sanji refuses, because he will not disappoint his captain.
Sanji breaks free, spins his legs to knock the spear away, and lands a kick between the front legs of Killingham’s Kirin form. He follows with a kick to the face. Killingham headbutts him back, and the two trade blows. Killingham keeps regenerating and mocks Sanji for lacking Conqueror’s Haki. That is when Killingham uses Dream Output and pulls Sanji’s nightmare out of his head.
The Nightmare Is Ivankov, Not Germa
The nightmare that appears is Emporio Ivankov. Killingham does not recognize the Revolutionary Army commander, but he can tell the figure is not what Sanji expected. The nightmare Ivankov then merges with Killingham into a strange creature with a Kirin body, Ivankov’s head, and fishnet stockings on four legs. The fusion looks similar to an SBS drawing of Ivankov with Kaidou’s Devil Fruit.
The nightmare Ivankov attacks with the spear and kicks Sanji hard enough to make him cough blood. The flashback begins as Sanji flies through the air.
Ivankov’s Lesson: A Love That Wants Death Has No Value
The flashback to Kamabakka Kingdom shows Sanji winning fights against the Okamas but taking unnecessary damage. Ivankov notices that Sanji accepts hits he could dodge. Sanji says he does not care about himself because he saves his love for women. Ivankov rejects that idea. The Okamas tell Sanji the one thing they all have and he does not: self-love. Ivankov’s point is simple. Love should protect you, not destroy you. A love that wishes for death has no worth.
The flashback also ties back to Whole Cake Island, where Sanji left Luffy and gave himself up to protect his friends, and to Judge’s words that Sanji has no talent. Those memories are the walls that have kept Sanji from accepting himself.
Sanji Accepts Himself and Challenges Killingham
Back in the present, Sanji understands the lesson. He realizes that choosing to care for himself does not mean abandoning the crew. The nightmare Ivankov disappears once Sanji accepts the truth. Sanji lights a cigarette and tells Killingham that the Holy Knight will not land another hit. He also calls Killingham “horse-man” and mocks the Holy Knight for looking down on the people of Elbaf.
The final page hints that Sanji may be touching Conqueror’s Haki, but the spoilers do not confirm a full awakening or a defeat for Killingham.
Other Elbaf Threads: Zoro, Luffy, Loki, and the False Usopp Rumor
Zoro has already finished his fight against Sommers, and the spoilers for Chapter 1196 keep the focus on Sanji’s side of the battle. Luffy and Loki are still in the larger conflict against Imu, but Chapter 1196 does not resolve that fight.
A separate rumor about Usopp dying on Elbaf has been circulating online. The Chapter 1196 spoilers do not confirm that rumor, and the Usopp death claim should be treated as unverified.
