Netflix is expanding the Manifest universe with a new series called Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery. The show was ordered on August 28, 2026, a date that matches the famous Flight 828 from the original series. Production is set to begin in Vancouver on January 19, 2027, and the first episodes could arrive on Netflix as early as 2028. Original creator Jeff Rake returns with co-showrunners Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, and the story moves to Denver with a brand-new cast of characters.
What Happens in Arrivals
The new series follows a plane that crash-lands in Denver. The passengers step out with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they are there. A young social worker and a rookie Homeland Security agent team up with the survivors to stop a global catastrophe. Along the way, they learn that they are part of the same puzzle they are trying to solve.
The logline sets up a different mystery from the original show. Manifest followed the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828, who landed five and a half years after takeoff without aging. Arrivals keeps the plane-related mystery but adds mass amnesia and a new location.
Who Is Making the Show
Jeff Rake created Manifest and serves as co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner on Arrivals. Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who worked as co-executive producers on the original series, step up as co-creators and co-showrunners.
Other executive producers include Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of Compari Entertainment, Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions, and Jacqueline Levine. Warner Bros. TV is the studio.
“The world of Manifest has more stories to tell. To now bring fans a brand-new mystery from that world is quite simply beyond my wildest dreams.” — Jeff Rake, creator of Manifest
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of scripted series for the US and Canada, said the returning creative team keeps the franchise connected to what made the original a success.
“Their return ensures the creative continuity essential to this franchise, allowing us to honor what made the original a phenomenon while introducing a fresh perspective for fans worldwide.” — Jinny Howe, Netflix
The New Characters at the Center
Casting is still underway, and no actors have been announced. Character breakdowns shared by What’s on Netflix and reported by ComingSoon and ScreenRant give the first look at the ensemble. The series has six regular roles and two recurring roles.
- Zoe, 27, is a social worker who grew up in foster care and wants a family of her own. She is smart, caring, and brave but finds it hard to trust people.
- Mike Deaver is a former Air Force helicopter pilot in his 20s to early 30s who now works for the Department of Homeland Security. He is clean-cut and morally grounded, but a past mistake still haunts him. He teams up with Zoe.
- Wes, in his 50s, lives off the grid with Sloane and Joe. He is guarded but warm, honorable, and fiercely protective of his family.
- Sloane, 19, is tough, loving, resourceful, and cautious. She has a close bond with Joe and uses an inhaler for a lung condition.
- Billy is Zoe’s wealthy, charming ex-boyfriend. He is a commitment-shy playboy with a complicated past.
- Selena is a strong, commanding natural leader who has a history with Wes.
- Director Gary Bolton is a by-the-book DHS director who trusts facts, rules, and procedure.
- Francisco is a hardworking family man who feels he deserves more from life and will bend his morals to protect his family.
Will the Original Manifest Cast Return
No original cast members have been confirmed for Arrivals. Netflix has not announced any returns for Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, or other stars from the flagship series. The spinoff is built around a new group of characters and a new mystery.
Manifest ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2023. The first three seasons aired on NBC before the network cancelled the show in 2021. Netflix picked it up for a fourth and final season, released in two parts in November 2022 and June 2023.
How Big Manifest Was on Netflix
The original series pulled strong numbers after arriving on Netflix. All four seasons have gathered more than 130 million views since the start of 2023. Season 4 spent nine weeks in the Global Top 10 English TV list and reached number one in more than 90 countries.
Rake said the new show is built to work for both old fans and people who have never seen Manifest.
“It’s been five long years since we showed up on Netflix, and there’s probably half a generation who has never heard of Manifest. We’ve tried to thread the needle in a way that’s rewarding for the OG Manifest fans, but also equally rewarding for people who are brand new to the show.” — Jeff Rake, to Netflix’s Tudum
