Paul Bettany is pulling double duty this weekend. The actor behind Marvel’s Vision is not only promoting his new Disney+ series VisionQuest, but he is also the face of a new Marvel-ESPN team-up built around Sunday’s El Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The match marks the first time the famous rivalry airs on ABC in the United States, and Marvel’s android hero is helping ESPN bring new eyes to the broadcast.

The partnership, first reported by Variety and confirmed through ESPN’s press materials, centers on a 30-second promotional spot voiced by Bettany. The ad connects the world of VisionQuest with the intensity of Spanish soccer’s biggest club match. ESPN has also placed Bettany in a soccer-themed Q&A across its ESPN FC social channels and released a motion poster on Instagram and TikTok Stories, including ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language accounts.

Why Marvel’s Vision Is Promoting El Clásico

The crossover is a Disney-family affair. Disney owns both Marvel Studios and ESPN, making the collaboration a natural fit for a match that already draws millions of viewers worldwide. ESPN is using the Marvel brand to reach audiences who may not normally watch LaLiga, while Marvel gets a massive platform to promote VisionQuest, which premiered on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.

Bettany’s role goes beyond a voice-over. During ESPN’s pregame coverage on Sunday, a custom VisionQuest promo will air in both English and Spanish broadcasts. A separate VisionQuest segment is also set to appear during ESPN’s halftime show. The campaign extends to other Disney properties as well, with “Live with Kelly and Mark” and SportsCenter promoting the match during the week. ESPN also enlisted creators Devin Caherly and Dylan Acanfora to produce content from Barcelona.

Paul Bettany Picks a Side in El Clásico

In his ESPN interview, Bettany made his soccer loyalty clear. The actor backed Barcelona to win Sunday’s match, saying, “Come on Barcelona,” according to clips shared across ESPN’s social platforms. His pick adds a playful layer to the promotion, giving fans a talking point beyond the usual pre-match analysis.
