Salman Khan has finally addressed the loudest question surrounding his upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. At the film’s trailer launch in Mumbai on Friday, November 6, 2026, the actor explained why a playful track like “Teri Sexy Beauty” sits inside a story about soldiers and the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. His answer was simple, specific, and tied directly to a scene in the film. The makers also confirmed that the movie will arrive in theatres on December 4, 2026.
The debate started on November 4, when Salman released the song at 5:12 am on the Salman Khan Films Music YouTube channel. A flirty number with lyrics about “two pegs” and a “sexy beauty” felt like a strange match for a film inspired by a deadly border confrontation. Social media and Reddit users questioned the choice almost immediately. Two days later, at the trailer launch, Salman gave his side of the story.
Salman Khan’s Answer: The Song Plays When Soldiers Praise Their Wives
Salman did not avoid the question. He opened the topic himself at the event and explained that the song has a fixed place in the story.
“I know everyone’s wondering how Teri Sexy Beauty fits into Maatrubhumi. Isn’t it on everyone’s mind? You will understand how it fits when you watch the film. It comes on when an officer and several soldiers praise their wives. Whatever songs we’ve shown you, those visuals will be quite few in the film.”

The sequence, according to Salman, involves an officer and a group of soldiers talking about their partners. The song plays inside that moment, not as a random promotional insert. He also said that the clips shared in the run-up to the release represent only a small portion of the film.
Salman joked about the volume of music released so far. He said audiences might feel the team had already put out “1,400 songs” before the film even reached cinemas. His explanation for that was practical.
“I know you feel like we have released 1400 songs, but there’s a reason for it. I’m sure you all know it. We will clear it all up today. We could not show the situations in the film beforehand. When you watch the film, you’ll understand how they all fit in. We can’t reveal the situation behind them all now.”

He added that showing full song situations before release would take away from the theatre experience. In his words, viewers often step out for a break when they have already seen a song in full on music channels. The team wanted to avoid that.
Why Soldiers Don’t Only Sing Patriotic Songs
Salman’s second point was about how soldiers are shown in Hindi cinema. He argued that Army personnel do not spend every moment singing patriotic tracks. They also enjoy regular Bollywood dance numbers.
At the event, he listed songs such as “Sandese Aate Hain” and “Mere Desh Ki Dharti” as the expected patriotic choices. Then he named “Kala Chashma”, “Shava Shava”, and “Oonchi Hai Building” as the kind of songs soldiers also enjoy.
“Ab har Army ka naujawan ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti Sonaโฆ’ hamesha toh nahi gaayega na? ‘Sandese Aate Hainโฆ’ Woh kabhi ‘Kala Chashma’, ‘Shava Shava’, yeh sab bhi toh gaayega. ‘Oonchi Hai Building’, yeh gaane hote hain na. Film mein yeh situation nahi hai, situation kuch aur hi hai.”

That remark became the clearest defence of the track. The song is not meant to represent the film’s overall tone. It is meant to represent a lighter, personal moment inside a larger war story.
The Song That Started the Conversation
“Teri Sexy Beauty” marks Salman’s return to playback singing after 11 years. His previous playback work included “Main Hoon Hero Tera” from the 2015 film Hero and “Hangover” from the 2014 film Kick. The new track is sung by Salman Khan and Muskaan, written and composed by Sajid Khan, and choreographed by Caesar Gonsalves.
The song features Chitrangda Singh in a red outfit, with background dancers dressed as air hostesses. Salman appears alongside men who look like fellow soldiers before joining Chitrangda on the dance floor. The visuals are set inside what appears to be an aircraft hangar. The lyrics include the line, “Teri sexy beauty ka fan ban gaya hu man, main do peg pee ke aeroplane ban gaya hu.”
Chitrangda Singh plays Salman’s wife in the film. Maatrubhumi is the first time the two actors have been paired on screen. The song is the fifth track from the film. The album also includes the title track composed by Himesh Reshammiya, “Jai Hind”, “Main Hoon”, and “Chand Dekh Lena”.
What Maatrubhumi Is Really About
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan under the Salman Khan Films banner. The film was earlier titled Battle of Galwan. It draws from the June 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley of Eastern Ladakh.
Salman plays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra. The cast also includes Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw, Abhilash Chaudhary, Abhishree Sen, Javed Khan, and Vipin Bhardwaj.
At the same event, Salman denied that the Indian government pressured the team to change the script. He also said the film is not against China.
“This narrative that we are going against China or that our government has pressured us to change the script or rewrite itโฆthis is all nonsense. It’s not true at all. We have made a film about soldiers and what they and their families go through.”

He repeated the point in Hindi, saying the story looks at soldiers and their families on both sides. The film, in his description, is a war story about the effects of conflict on military families rather than a film built to create anger against another country.
Release Date and Cast Details
Salman confirmed the December 4, 2026 release date at the trailer launch. The date puts Maatrubhumi in a box office clash with Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha. The film was originally planned for an April 2026 release, then moved to August, and later to November. Reports before the trailer launch had mentioned November 20 and December 11 as possible dates. The final announcement settled on December 4.
The delay had two stated reasons. Salman said the team wanted the visual effects to meet current audience standards. He also said Chitrangda Singh suffered an injury, and her recovery and physiotherapy affected the shooting schedule.
The trailer received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film is set for a theatrical release in India and key overseas markets, including the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia, on December 4. That means audiences in major international markets will see the film on the same date as Indian cinemagoers.
How the Song Was Received
The song drew sharp reactions on Reddit and X in the days after its release. Some users questioned why a film about the Galwan clash needed a dance number with lyrics about drinking. One Reddit user asked, “What is even the purpose of this? It’s such a strange choice for even a post credit song.” Another wrote, “Lol what is going on? Isn’t this a war movie?”
The criticism also touched on the lyrics and the visuals. One comment described the song as “cheap, cringe and embarrassing.” Another compared the lyrics to a last-minute assignment. A separate user questioned why Salman sang the track himself.
Not every reaction was negative. Some users said they liked the vibe of the song but still questioned its placement in the film. The mixed response made the trailer launch the natural place for Salman to explain the song’s context.
What the Trailer Launch Added
The trailer launch did more than confirm a release date. It gave the film’s team a chance to separate the promotional clips from the actual narrative. Salman’s explanation placed “Teri Sexy Beauty” inside a scene about soldiers and their wives. He also made it clear that the promotional visuals are not a full picture of how the song appears in the film.
