Hanni Addresses Content Disputes with HYBE
On September 11, NewJeans’ member Hanni caused a stir with a broadcast on their new YouTube channel, nwjns. The members appeared unusually serious, and Hanni took the opportunity to address ongoing issues with HYBE, particularly following the departure of Min Hee Jin as CEO of ADOR.
Content Disputes with HYBE
Hanni started by discussing how HYBE has allegedly “infringed” on their media content, despite previous assurances about respecting the creative direction set by Min Hee Jin. She highlighted that their content is crucial to their identity and image.
“Something we all find very important, something that plays a very important role in our team’s color and image is our media content and creative production. Despite saying that they would leave all the creative production to our now-former CEO Min Hee Jin, through official statements that I think a lot of you might have already read and seen during our personal meetings, they infringed on our content.”
Impact on Staff
Hanni also mentioned the strain this situation has placed on their staff, who had invested significant effort into producing content for fans.
“It was content that we not only worked really hard on but our staff who spent endless hours to produce and release, solely for our fans. If they had any understanding about what type of team we are and the content we create, they would have thought more deeply before crossing the line they set themselves.”
Changes in Management and Creative Harmony
With Min Hee Jin’s departure, Hanni noted that the collaboration between business management and creative production has suffered.
“Because of this incident, we realize that there’s not much we can do to prevent these issues. Personally, the way that ADOR used to run was business management and creative production were not separated, and it was the factors that played and worked in harmony together. That’s how it worked and was perfectly fine. Now that she is no longer CEO, these factors that should’ve continued to work together in harmony are now being seen as two different areas of work.”
Concerns About HYBE’s Sincerity
Hanni expressed doubts about HYBE’s commitment to resolving these issues and continuing their collaboration with Min Hee Jin. She criticized HYBE for not demonstrating genuine intent to support the group.
“Like how we have our own and individual thoughts and feelings, we have our choice to decide how we choose to react to each situation and we are not going to follow HYBE’s every orders blindly. We are more than well aware that this is getting in the way of our work, and that we should be treated much better than we are right now. It’s very hard to truly believe they are sincere about wanting to help us continue to work with our former CEO. Despite being the midst of the current legal conflict, she is expected to plan and creatively produce our future endeavors in only two months, which I personally think makes no sense at all.”
Desire for Resolution
Concluding her message, Hanni emphasized the group’s desire to resolve the current legal conflict and restore their working environment to normalcy.
“We don’t want to hear all the empty words about how they are going to help us continue to work with Min Hee Jin. All we want is this legal conflict to be resolved and have our working environment to go back to normal.”
The YouTube video and channel have since been removed.
