South Korean artist Koo Jun Yup has announced an indefinite halt to his activities in Taiwan. This decision comes in the wake of the passing of his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, and is driven by his need to grieve and be with her family.
Taiwanese media outlet ET Today reported on February 19 that Koo Jun Yup is suspending all his public engagements in Taiwan, including DJ shows, press conferences, and fan meetings, without a set date for resumption.
This announcement means the cancellation of Koo Jun Yup‘s scheduled appearance at a flash mob event in Taiwan this month. He has also withdrawn from attending the opening event of a medical center next month. Since Barbie Hsu‘s funeral, Koo Jun Yup has remained in Taiwan to support her family during this difficult time.
Desire for Private Space and Delayed Funeral
According to reports, Koo Jun Yup has expressed a wish for a personal space where he can privately remember Barbie Hsu.
“I want an independent space where I can visit Barbie Hsu anytime.”
Following discussions with Barbie Hsu‘s family, a decision was made to select an alternative burial site. This has resulted in a delay in the final funeral arrangements.
Local media sources indicate that the timeline for Koo Jun Yup‘s return to his professional activities remains uncertain. His focus is currently on healing from the emotional impact of his loss, and he will make a decision about resuming work after this period of mourning.
Remembering Barbie Hsu
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2 at 7 AM in a hospital in Tokyo, Japan. She had been hospitalized due to flu symptoms but her condition worsened, leading to her passing from Pneumonia.
Following her death, Koo Jun Yup publicly shared his profound sorrow:
“Right now, I am going through an indescribable sorrow and pain, feeling as if my insides are being torn apart.”
