Brooklyn Beckham’s family reportedly believes his wife, Nicola Peltz, is controlling him, with sources calling him “the hostage” amid ongoing tensions with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. The couple’s recent social media posts and missed family events have fueled rumors of a deepening rift.
Brooklyn, 26, shared a video on Instagram showing him and Nicola, 30, riding a motorcycle together. He captioned it with a strong message: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby.” While some saw it as a romantic gesture, insiders claim it was out of character for Brooklyn.
“Videos like this are just not what he does. He will be dying inside. He’s soppy and he’s a romantic, but that video just isn’t him. He hates all of that stuff, so you have to wonder if Nicola was behind it,” a source told the Daily Mail. Another insider added, “Brooklyn is now being referred to as ‘the hostage.’ He is in a situation where those who love Brooklyn fear that he is being controlled by Nicola, and it is heartbreaking.”
The Beckhams are reportedly upset over Brooklyn’s absence from key family events, including David’s 50th birthday celebrations in March. Despite being in the UK at the time, Brooklyn and Nicola did not attend. A source close to the family said, “They love and are always there for [Brooklyn]. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”
Nicola has denied any feud with Victoria in the past. In a 2023 interview, she said, “There’s no feud. It’s really weird when you know the truth and then you read something totally wrong.” However, the couple’s actions suggest otherwise. They recently had dinner with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which reportedly left David and Victoria “blindsided.”
Brooklyn’s younger brother, Cruz, posted a family photo on Instagram with the caption, “I love my family. I love you guys more than anything, mum & dad, you gave us life and cared for us no matter what.” This was seen as a subtle response to Brooklyn’s post. Fans have also criticized Brooklyn for his public declaration, with one commenting, “If that was my son saying that, knowing what the post is about, I would be devastated.”
The couple’s absence from family gatherings has become a pattern. They skipped a fishing trip with David, Romeo, and Cruz, as well as Victoria’s Paris Fashion Week show. Reports suggest Nicola may have influenced Brooklyn’s distance from his family. A source claimed, “There’s no way Brooklyn would willingly shut out his family like this. It just doesn’t add up.”
Brooklyn and Nicola married in 2022 in a lavish $3 million wedding in Florida. Since then, their relationship with the Beckhams has reportedly deteriorated. Some believe the tension started when Nicola allegedly ignored Romeo’s then-girlfriend, Mia Regan, at their wedding. Another source said, “Things have been terrible for a long time. It has upset their mum and dad so much.”
