A new petition is asking Korean broadcaster KBS to restrict BTS member Suga from appearing on their shows due to his past DUI fine. This comes just as BTS members reunite after completing military service, raising concerns among fans about the group’s comeback plans.

The petition was posted on June 23, 2025, on KBS’s official viewer request board. It demands the network take action against Suga for his 2024 drunk driving incident.

Why Is Suga Facing Backlash Now?

In August 2024, Suga was fined 15 million won ($10,800) for riding an electric scooter while drunk during his mandatory social service. His blood alcohol level was 0.08%, high enough to have his driver’s license revoked.

The petitioner argues that drunk driving is a serious crime and that Suga, as a global star, should face consequences. They also criticized KBS for not holding a review meeting earlier despite the case being settled.

“Drunk driving can directly harm others. Allowing a public figure with a DUI record on TV might make the crime seem less serious.”

KBS has previously banned celebrities like Kwak Do Won, Kim Sae Ron, and Kim Ho Joong after their DUI incidents. The network has strict rules against featuring people involved in illegal activities.

Will This Affect BTS’s Comeback?

All seven BTS members have now completed military service, with Suga being discharged on June 21, 2025. Fans were excited for the group’s full return, but this petition has caused worry.

HYBE, BTS’s agency, has not commented yet. However, Suga recently made headlines for donating 5 billion won ($3.6 million) to Yonsei Medical Center, showing his continued philanthropic efforts.

How Are Fans Reacting?

While some support the petition, many fans defend Suga, pointing out that he already faced legal consequences. Others worry this could delay BTS’s highly awaited comeback.

“He paid the fine and completed his service. Why punish him again?” – A fan tweeted.

“KBS should focus on bigger issues. Suga has done so much good.” – Another fan wrote.

What Happens Next?

KBS has not yet responded to the petition. If they follow past cases, Suga could face a temporary ban. However, BTS’s global influence might lead to a different outcome.

For now, fans are waiting for updates while hoping this doesn’t disrupt the group’s plans.
