Remember those wild teenage years when sneaking out past curfew felt like the ultimate act of rebellion? Well, it turns out, even K-Pop idols aren’t immune to that thrill! In a recent appearance on Shin Dong Yup’s YouTube show, popular actress Kwon Nara, who rose to fame as part of the girl group Hello Venus, dished on a hilarious and relatable story from her idol days that involved some serious rule-breaking.
Living the Idol Life: Dorm Rules and Yearning for Freedom
Kwon Nara first opened up about the strict routines and limitations that come with being a K-Pop idol. Sharing how she and her fellow Hello Venus members lived together in a dorm, she explained, “There were times when we wanted to go out and have fun, but because of our schedules and dorm rules, we just couldn’t.”
This constant restriction, it seems, eventually sparked a desire for a little taste of freedom. Enter the night Kwon Nara and her members decided to take matters into their own hands and embark on a daring adventure – a secret clubbing trip!
The Great Gangnam Getaway: Bathhouse Lies and Sneaky Smartphones
With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Kwon Nara revealed the elaborate plan they hatched. “We were all adults,” she said, “and we really wanted to experience the nightlife, especially the club scene in Gangnam, which is known for its trendy clubs.”
But how do you sneak out of a dorm filled with watchful managers? According to Kwon Nara, they resorted to a clever trick. “One of our older members, who we called ‘unnie,’ volunteered to be our leader for the night,” she explained. “We lied to our manager and said we were all going to a bathhouse to relax.”
But wait, there’s more! To truly ensure their plan wouldn’t be foiled by a watchful manager checking their phones, Kwon Nara added, “One of the members, even went as far as getting a second phone just for this outing!” Now that’s some serious dedication to a night out!
Busted! A Second Phone Foils the Perfect Escape
Unfortunately, as with many a teenage rebellion, things didn’t quite go according to plan for Kwon Nara and her Hello Venus crew. “We snuck out and thought we were being super sneaky,” she said with a laugh. “We all went to this club in Gangnam, had a great time, and thought we’d gotten away with it perfectly.”
However, their secret clubbing adventure was short-lived. “The reason we got caught,” Kwon Nara revealed, “was because the member who got the second phone accidentally left it behind in the car! Our manager found it and realized something wasn’t right.”
Busted! Kwon Nara described the aftermath as both embarrassing and hilarious. “We were all called back to the practice room,” she said. “We had to confess everything and turn in our phones for punishment. We were even banned from going to the practice room for a whole week, but honestly, at that point, we were just relieved we hadn’t gotten into any bigger trouble.”
Hello Venus Shenanigans and a Successful Transition
Looking back on the incident, Kwon Nara laughs it off as a fun and unforgettable memory from her Hello Venus days. While the group disbanded in 2019, each member, including Kwon Nara, has carved out successful careers in the entertainment industry.
Kwon Nara, in particular, has transitioned beautifully from the world of K-Pop to the world of acting. Known for her stunning visuals and captivating performances, she has starred in several hit Korean dramas, including “Itaewon Class” and “My Mister.”
