The official trailer for Fallout Season 2 is here, setting the stage for a dramatic journey to the neon-lit ruins of New Vegas. Picking up after the explosive events of the first season, the new footage shows Ella Purnell as Lucy and Walton Goggins as The Ghoul forming an unlikely partnership as they travel through the Mojave wasteland. The series returns to Prime Video on December 17, 2025.
The Mission Drives the Journey
The central plot follows Lucy’s unwavering goal to find her father, Hank MacLean, played by Kyle MacLachlan. In the trailer, the Ghoul questions her motives, asking, โWhat exactly do you plan on doing once we find your daddy?โ Lucy responds with determination, โGonna bring him to justice. So that people know that how they conduct themselves matters. And they donโt give up hope.โ Her quest is for righteousness in a world that has very little of it.
The Ghoul, however, has a deeply personal reason for continuing his centuries-long existence. He reveals, โI wastelanded for 200 years. Iโve kept myself alive for one reason โ to find my family.โ This search for his lost family adds an emotional layer to his otherwise hardened character. Their journey is set against a backdrop of rising conflict, hinted at by an ominous voice in the trailer that warns, โWell then, youโre gonna need friends. Thereโs a war coming.โ

New Vegas and Major Game Locations Come to Life
Season 2 greatly expands the show’s world by introducing iconic locations from the beloved video game Fallout: New Vegas. The trailer offers glimpses of a meticulously recreated New Vegas Strip, complete with signage for famous spots like the Ultra-Luxe and the Lucky 38 casino. Sets built at a California mall were transformed to bring this post-apocalyptic playground to life.
Viewers are also treated to sights of Freeside, a bustling, run-down area adjacent to the Strip. The trailer also suggests a visit to the dreaded Vault 22, known in the games for its terrifying mutated plant life. Furthermore, the powerful ruler of New Vegas, Robert House, makes an appearance. His face is shown on a large screen, confirming that Justin Theroux has joined the cast to play this pivotal character from the games.
New Faces and Rising Factions
The trailer confirms the arrival of two notable actors in recurring roles. Macaulay Culkin appears as a โcrazy geniusโ-type character, marking his first major foray into the series. Comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani also makes a brief appearance, stepping in front of the Brotherhood of Steel to quip, โI understand weโre discussing a civil war? I must not have gotten my invitation.โ
The conflict teased in the trailer seems to involve major factions from the games. Leaked set photos and trailer analysis point to the presence of both the New California Republic (NCR) and the brutal Caesarโs Legion. Their power struggle in the Mojave Wasteland is likely the “war” being referenced. A mysterious, deep voice in the trailer has also led fans to speculate that Super Mutants, a classic enemy from the games, might be introduced this season.
