Anya Taylor-Joy has officially joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum in a role created specifically for the film. The actress will play Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, as confirmed by Warner Bros. on June 15, 2026.
Who Is Seren?
Seren is described as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil,” the Elvenking of the Woodland Realm played by Lee Pace, who reprises his role from The Hobbit trilogy. The character is an original creation for the film and does not appear in J.R.R. Tolkien’s books.
The official Lord of the Rings social media accounts shared the news with an image of a hooded figure holding a bow, captioned “Welcome to the hunt, Anya Taylor-Joy.” The character’s name suggests Sindarin origins, consistent with the Woodland Realm’s inhabitants. The role places Taylor-Joy among the Silvan Elves of Mirkwood, connecting her character to the realm of Legolas and his father, King Thranduil.

Taylor-Joy joins a growing ensemble of both returning and new actors for the franchise’s return to Middle-earth.
Returning cast members include:
