The wait is finally over for fans of the 2007 cult classic. The official trailer for Awarapan 2 dropped on August 6, 2026, bringing back Emraan Hashmi as the brooding and broken Shivam Pandit. The sequel arrives nearly two decades after the original film became a favourite among audiences for its intense story and memorable music. While the trailer has created a lot of buzz, it has also received mixed reactions from viewers online.
The film is set to hit cinemas worldwide on August 14, 2026. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, known for Filmistaan and Notebook, the movie is produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner. The distribution in India will be handled by Pen Marudhar.

The trailer also introduces Disha Patani as Zara, a new character who seems to bring a fresh emotional layer to Shivam’s life. However, the makers have kept her role largely under wraps, only showing brief glimpses of her.

Censor Board Clears Film with U/A 16+ Rating
Along with the trailer launch, the makers also confirmed that Awarapan 2 has received its censor certificate. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded the film a U/A 16+ rating. However, the board asked for some changes before giving the green light.
According to reports, the CBFC suggested the makers tone down one violent sequence by 50%, remove three instances of extreme violence, and delete a scene showing drug consumption. After these modifications, the film received its certificate on August 5, 2026. The final runtime of the movie has been locked at 140 minutes and 20 seconds.

Apart from Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi, the film features a solid supporting cast. The actors and their characters include:
