The Story Behind the Film
Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is set during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The story takes place inside Mumbai’s Cama and Albless Hospital. It follows the hospital staff who protected patients during the attack.
The film highlights the courage of nurses, ward boys, cleaners, and security personnel. These ordinary people became the first line of defence. They continued to care for patients despite the danger. The movie draws inspiration from the real-life bravery of nurse Anjali Kulthe. She helped protect pregnant women during the siege.

The film is written and directed by Manoj Tapadia. It is produced by PEN Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Paramhans Creations. The cast includes Kangana Ranaut, Girija Oak, and Smita Tambe in key roles. Other actors include Asha Shelar, Priya Arun Berde, Rasika Agashe, and Suhita Thatte.
Kangana Ranaut on the Film’s OTT Release
Kangana Ranaut, who also produced the film, shared her thoughts on the OTT premiere. She said the project was important to her because it tells a story that needed to be heard.
“Some stories choose you because they deserve to be told. Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is one such film. As both an actor and producer, it was incredibly important for me to bring to life the untold stories of the healthcare workers who stood fearlessly between terror and humanity during the 26/11 attacks.”
She added that the film’s release around Independence Day adds to its meaning.
“Their courage wasn’t driven by recognition, but by an unwavering sense of duty and compassion. Releasing this film around Independence Day makes its message even more meaningful, as it reminds us that the spirit of India is defined not only by those who defend the nation on the frontlines, but also by ordinary citizens who rise to extraordinary challenges in moments of crisis.”
Director Manoj Tapadia’s Vision
Director Manoj Tapadia said the film was made to show a side of the 26/11 attacks that is rarely discussed.
“From the very beginning, our intention was to tell the story of 26/11 from a perspective that has never been explored. While the nation remembers the bravery of our security forces, there were equally extraordinary acts of courage unfolding inside Cama Hospital that night.”
He added that the film is a tribute to the resilience of the hospital staff.
