BTS has done it again. The group’s latest album ARIRANG has crossed 4 billion streams on Spotify, making it the only album released in 2026 to reach this massive number. This achievement comes just five months after the album first dropped on March 20, 2026.

The numbers keep growing for the K-pop superstars. ARIRANG is not just breaking records, it is completely changing what people thought was possible for a Korean album on global streaming platforms.

4 Billion Streams and Still Climbing

Spotify confirmed that ARIRANG officially surpassed the 4 billion stream mark this week. This places the album in a very exclusive group of releases that have reached this level of success.

The album reached this milestone faster than most expected. Since its release in March, ARIRANG has consistently pulled in huge streaming numbers every single day.

What makes this achievement even more impressive is that ARIRANG is the only 2026 album to hit 4 billion streams on Spotify. No other artist who released music this year has come close to matching these numbers.

A Comeback Six Years in the Making

ARIRANG marks BTS’s first studio album in nearly six years, following their 2020 release BE. The group took time off for each member to complete their mandatory military service in South Korea.

The album features 14 tracks and blends hip hop, pop, alternative R&B, and traditional Korean music influences. The title pays tribute to the famous Korean folk song “Arirang,” connecting the group’s modern sound to their cultural roots.

BTS worked with some of the biggest producers in the music industry for this album, including Diplo, Ryan Tedder, Kevin Parker, and Mike Will Made-It.

All 14 Tracks Surpass 100 Million Streams

Every single song on ARIRANG has now crossed 100 million streams on Spotify. This includes the non-lyrical track “No. 29”, which features the sound of Korea’s historic Sacred Bell of King Seongdeok.

The lead single “SWIM” has been particularly successful. It became the first song released in 2026 to surpass 500 million streams on Spotify. The track reached this milestone on May 26.

Two other tracks from the album, “Body to Body” and “Hooligan,” have each crossed 200 million streams. These songs have also become very popular on social media platforms.

Breaking Records from Day One

ARIRANG started breaking records from its very first day on Spotify. The album pulled in over 110 million streams in its first 24 hours. This made it the most-streamed K-pop album in Spotify history and the most-streamed album of any genre in a single day in 2026.

The album also swept the top 14 spots on Spotify’s daily Global Top Songs chart, with “SWIM” debuting at No. 1. Every single track from the album occupied positions 1 through 14 on the chart.

Before the album even dropped, ARIRANG had already racked up over five million pre-saves on Spotify. This placed it among the most anticipated albums ever on the platform.

Fans React to the Massive Achievement

BTS fans, known as ARMY, have been celebrating this milestone across social media platforms. Many fans have shared their personal streaming stats, showing hundreds of plays of the album tracks.

The achievement has sparked discussions about BTS’s continued dominance in the music industry. ARIRANG now holds the position of the most streamed album of 2026 on Spotify. The track “SWIM” also holds the top spot for the most streamed song of the year.

Fans have organized streaming campaigns to support the album and keep its momentum going. These coordinated efforts have helped sustain the album’s high streaming numbers throughout May and June.

Global Success Beyond Expectations

The success of ARIRANG extends far beyond Spotify. According to global music data company Luminate, the album achieved 3.8 billion streams across major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music in just the first eight weeks after release.

When combined with streams of BTS’s older music, the group’s total catalog surpassed 5.3 billion streams during the same period. The comeback album brought renewed attention to the group’s entire body of work.

The album’s listenership is spread evenly across the globe. Latin America accounts for 27% of total streams, followed by Northeast Asia at 17%, North America at 14%, Southeast Asia at 13%, and Europe at 12%.

Physical album sales have also been extremely strong. In the United States, ARIRANG sold around 810,000 copies across CDs and vinyl, nearly four times the sales of the artists ranked second and third.

New Fans Discovering BTS

The data from Luminate shows something interesting about who is listening to ARIRANG. A new group of hip-hop-oriented listeners who do not typically consume K-pop have started enjoying BTS’s music.

About 38% of BTS listeners identified as Hispanic or Latino. This shows the group’s music is reaching audiences far beyond traditional K-pop fans.

BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’s label, stated that the analysis shows BTS is maintaining strong fandom engagement while continuously attracting new audiences worldwide.

Awards and Recognition

“SWIM” recently won the song of the summer award at the 52nd American Music Awards. The group secured the award after being nominated based on just six days of tracking following the song’s release.

Accepting the award, V shared a message tied to the song’s theme: “To everyone out there who keeps swimming no matter what, we send you our love and support”.

The song debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and has remained on the chart for eight consecutive weeks. In the UK, it peaked at No. 2 on the Official Single Top 100 chart, marking BTS’s highest placement on that chart to date.

The ARIRANG World Tour

BTS is currently on their ARIRANG World Tour, performing in stadiums across the globe. The group recently performed at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 1 and 2.

The ARIRANG World Tour has generated significant interest in the group’s music, contributing to the ongoing streaming success of the album.
