Former BIGBANG member Seungri has publicly apologized for using his former group’s name and G-Dragon’s inappropriately after returning from prison. The ex-idol insists the mention was unintentional and has vowed to refrain from such actions in the future.

Seungri’s Apology Following Controversial Remarks

Seungri, who was convicted in connection with the Burning Sun Scandal and served a prison sentence of one year and six months, made headlines again recently. After his release on February 9, 2023, he attended various events, where he was accused of leveraging BIGBANG and G-Dragon’s names for personal gain. A viral video from an event in Cambodia in January 2024 showed Seungri mentioning these names, which led to significant backlash from fans.

In an interview with My Daily on August 11, 2024, Seungri addressed the controversy:

“I was drunk and unintentionally mentioned BIGBANG and G-Dragon. I understand that my behavior was inappropriate and wrong. I assure you that nothing like this will happen again. I plan to live quietly and without involving others.”

Legal Actions and Refutations

The interview also covered several other important topics:

Seungri denied claims from TSV Management about his participation in an event for the Indonesian Burning Sun Club on August 31, 2024. He stated that he would take legal action against the unauthorized use of his image and the slander associated with it.

Additionally, Seungri refuted previous reports about his involvement in opening a club in Hong Kong, describing the rumors as false.

Attendance at Cambodian Party

Seungri also clarified his attendance at a party in Cambodia. He explained that he was there to support an acquaintance who had launched a new beer pub:

“The event was a personal matter, and I was not paid to attend. The rumors suggesting otherwise are untrue.”

Background on Seungri’s Conviction

In 2020, Seungri was convicted of multiple charges, including sexual crimes and illegal filming, due to his involvement in the Burning Sun Scandal. He received a prison sentence of one month and six years.
