The Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event delivered a packed evening of news on August 14, 2026, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The sold-out arena hosted thousands of Disney fans who got exclusive first looks at projects from Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Disney Animation.
Josh D’Amaro, the new chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, opened the evening in his first address to fans in this role. The three-day fan event runs from August 14 through August 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center.
In total, Disney announced 21 movies and television shows, spanning theatrical releases and streaming series that extend from late 2026 into 2029. Here is the complete breakdown of every major reveal from the showcase.
Marvel Studios Announces X-Men Cast and Avengers Doomsday
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage to present multiple projects. The biggest news was the official cast announcement for the new X-Men reboot, which ends years of speculation.
Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey. Kit Connor will portray Cyclops. Christopher Abbott will play Professor Charles Xavier. Samara Weaving will appear as Emma Frost. Inde Navarrette will play Rogue. Maya Boyd will portray Storm. Adam Driver will play the villain Mister Sinister. The film will be directed by Jake Schreier and is scheduled for theaters on May 5, 2028.
Feige also presented new footage from Avengers: Doomsday. Robert Downey Jr. , Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell joined him on stage. The footage showed Downey Jr. ‘s transformation from Tony Stark to Victor von Doom. One major moment showed Doctor Doom confronting Pedro Pascal‘s Mister Fantastic. Other heroes including Thor and Loki also appeared. Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
Another Marvel project announced was VisionQuest, a Marvel Television original series coming to Disney+. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, and James Spader reprises his role as Ultron. The show follows a rebooted Vision as he deals with the AI personalities embedded in his programming. VisionQuest premieres on October 14, 2026.
Disney Animation Announces Frozen 3, Zootopia 3, and Coco 2
Disney Animation had a strong presence at the showcase. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad appeared on stage to promote Frozen 3. Bell confirmed that Anna will finally marry Kristoff in the new movie. The film also introduces a new love interest for Olaf named Samantha. A sneak peek showed the Northern lights and a snowflake that becomes a butterfly. Frozen 3 releases in theaters on November 24, 2027.
Zootopia 3 is officially in development. Disney Animation chief creative officer Jared Bush joined Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan on stage to make the announcement. The new film will introduce bird characters to the world of Zootopia. The Zootopia franchise has been incredibly successful, with Zootopia 2 earning $1.86 billion worldwide.
Coco 2 was also confirmed, with Benjamin Bratt returning as the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz. The sequel follows a teenage Miguel who is still playing music and battling against the former hero-turned-villain. Bratt described his character as seeking revenge, saying fate has twists in store. Coco 2 arrives in November 2029.
Pixar Previews Incredibles 3, Ghost Market, and Gatto
Pixar previewed The Incredibles 3, which focuses on Violet and Dash Parr as they try to prove they are ready to become real superheroes. The parents are not convinced, so the kids have been sneaking out at night to protect the city. A new threat is affecting Bob Parr, who questions his relevance in a world where supers are legal again. Craig T. Nelson returns as Bob Parr, with Sarah Vowell as Violet and Huck Milner as Dash. Peter Sohn directs the film written by Brad Bird. The Incredibles 3 releases in June 2028.
Pixar also announced a new original film called Ghost Market, expected in 2028. The story follows a young boy named Kyle who moves to Hawaii with his family and encounters hungry ghosts. The film is directed by Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews.
Another original Pixar film announced was Gatto, set in Italy. The film follows Nero, a street-smart black cat voiced by Mark Ruffalo, as he navigates the canals of Venice. Gatto reaches theaters on March 5, 2027.
Star Wars Expands with Ahsoka Season 2 and Starfighter
Lucasfilm announced two new Star Wars projects. A teaser trailer for Ahsoka Season 2 was shown, with the series premiering exclusively on Disney+ on January 20, 2027.
Ryan Gosling also took the stage with director Shawn Levy to talk about Star Wars: Starfighter. The film explores another corner of the Star Wars universe rather than simply revisiting the Skywalker Saga. The first footage was shown during the presentation. The film hits theaters in 2027.
Disney+ Announces Kingdom Hearts Series and Percy Jackson Season 3
Disney+ greenlit Kingdom Hearts: The Series, an original anime series based on the popular video game franchise. The series expands the Kingdom Hearts universe and celebrates the game’s beloved characters. It was created in partnership with game creator Tetsuya Nomura. The series will be available on Disney+ and Disney Channel.
The cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians appeared on stage to tease Season 3. The new season premieres on Disney+ on November 20, 2026. Season 3 will adapt The Titan’s Curse, the third book in the series written by Rick Riordan. Ming-Na Wen joins the cast as the Greek goddess Hera.
Live-Action Tangled, Lilo and Stitch 2, and Other Film Updates
The live-action Tangled movie received a first look at D23. Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel. Milo Manheim plays Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn plays Mother Gothel. The film reaches cinemas on March 31, 2028.
Lilo & Stitch 2 was announced as a sequel to the live-action blockbuster. Maia Kealoha confirmed that Angel, also known as Experiment 624, will appear in the film. The live-action remake earned over $1 billion at the box office and became the highest-grossing live-action/animated hybrid movie in history. Production begins in Hawaii later this year. Lilo & Stitch 2 arrives on May 26, 2028.
The Princess Diaries 3 was officially confirmed as in development, with Anne Hathaway‘s involvement affirmed during the event.
Other announcements included The Bluey Movie, arriving on August 6, 2027, and Ice Age: Boiling Point featuring Queen Latifah and Denis Leary, due on February 5, 2027. Hexed, starring Jodie Foster in her first animated Disney movie, arrives on November 25, 2026. Clay, starring Kieran Culkin, was also announced.
Romy & Michele 2 received an update, with Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino completing filming.
Oswald and Other Disney+ Series
Jon Favreau presented Oswald, a three-part live-action-animation hybrid series debuting on Disney+ in February 2027. The series stars Kathryn Hahn, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Amy Sedaris, and Steve Martin. It incorporates 2D hand-drawn animation.
