FBI Season 9 Episode 4, titled “Reticence,” delivered one of the season’s most personal cases yet. A routine carjacking turned into a kidnapping, a murder investigation landed on the desk of one of the bureau’s own agents, and a rocket company on the edge of a billion-dollar public launch hid a deadly secret. The episode aired on CBS on Monday, October 26, 2026, and streams on Paramount+ for viewers in the United States and select international markets.

The hour put Special Agent Isaiah Green, played by Roland Buck III, at the center of the storm. His DNA was found at a murder scene. The victim was his ex-girlfriend. A six-month-old baby was missing. Every piece of evidence pointed at him, and for a while, even his own team had to consider the possibility that their colleague had crossed a line no one could come back from.

How a Stolen Car and a Missing Baby Led the FBI to One of Their Own

The case began with a moment of panic. A man woke up to find his girlfriend brutally murdered in their home. Instead of calling the police, he ran. He jumped a fence, cut himself in the process, and stole a car from a nearby driveway. The car was not empty. Six-month-old Hadley Kuo was asleep in the backseat. His mother, Jennifer Kuo, had stepped away for just a moment to take a phone call.

Jennifer told the FBI that the man who took her car was covered in blood. That detail linked the kidnapping to a homicide just blocks away. The victim was Amanda Murray. A blood sample found on a fence near the scene came back as a match in the FBI’s database. The DNA belonged to Special Agent Isaiah Green — Maggie’s partner and the nephew of ADIC Green.

“To the team’s shock, while investigating a carjacking and baby abduction connected to a murder, the DNA at the scene comes back Isaiah’s — and the victim is his ex-girlfriend.”

Isaiah Green’s Bipolar Diagnosis and the Manic Episode That Changed Everything

Searching Isaiah’s home led the team to a difficult discovery. He had been prescribed medication for bipolar disorder but had stopped taking it about a month before the incident. His psychiatrist explained that Isaiah developed the condition after his breakup with Amanda. He stopped the pills because they made his hands shake, and he worried about being in the field with a weapon if his hands were not steady.

Isaiah was in the middle of a manic episode when he went to Amanda’s home. He remembered flashes — the smell of hibiscus flowers, a laptop, flames — but not the full sequence of events. He did not remember where Hadley was. He only knew he had not killed Amanda, and he set out to prove it by investigating her murder himself.

“He was in the middle of a manic episode following a recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder.”

Maggie Bell, played by Missy Peregrym, chose to believe her partner. OA Zidan, played by Zeeko Zaki, had just returned from an undercover assignment and did not know Isaiah as well. The difference in their instincts became a quiet tension running through the episode.

The Rocket Company Cover-Up That Explained Amanda Murray’s Murder

Amanda Murray worked as a vice president at Sovereign-9, a rocket propulsion startup preparing to go public. The company stood to make billions. Amanda had discovered a design flaw in the rockets and was about to report it to her bosses. That information could have destroyed the public offering and wiped out the fortunes of everyone holding shares.

The team found a colleague named Serena destroying her work laptop, which held evidence of the flaw. Serena had an alibi for the murders, but the trail led to Dale, a security worker at the company. Dale shot Kasper Sorenson, the company’s owner, before trying to escape. The murders of Amanda and Cory Oden, another employee, were carried out to keep the design flaw from becoming public.

Jubal Valentine, played by Jeremy Sisto, and the rest of the team worked through the financial motive while Maggie and OA chased the human side of the case. The two threads met in the middle, and Isaiah’s name was cleared.

How Isaiah Green Found Baby Hadley and What It Meant for His Future

The baby was still missing. Isaiah could not remember where he had taken Hadley during his manic episode. His uncle, ADIC Green, played by Curtiss Cook, sat with him and helped him piece together the fragments. Isaiah remembered the smell of a particular flower. That memory led them to a neighborhood daycare. Even at his lowest point, in the middle of a manic episode, Isaiah had taken the time to drop the baby off somewhere safe.

“His uncle helps him remember a neighborhood day care, and it’s revealed that even at his lowest point, Isaiah took the time to drop the baby off there.”

The episode closed with Hadley safe and Isaiah admitted to a hospital. He needs treatment, and his uncle promised to stand by him. Roland Buck III spoke about the responsibility of telling this story.

“Every episode of FBI, the writers come in with the seed of an idea we wanted to do,” said writer Bryce Ahart. “Stephanie had been wanting to do an episode since last season where we are saddled with a character who wakes up in a situation that is completely unrecognizable.”

OA’s Quiet Struggle After Undercover Work

OA’s return to the team came with its own weight. He had spent time undercover with Anna Vorpe and her strike team. The mission was over, but the effects were not. Zara, OA’s girlfriend, noticed he was not sleeping. Maggie noticed he was acting differently at work. He refused to promise the team would find Hadley, because he had failed to save the last person he made that promise to.

The episode did not resolve OA’s struggle. It simply showed it, quietly and without a neat answer, which is often how these things work in real life.
