Hulu’s crime thriller Furious wrapped up its first season on August 31, 2026, with a finale that gave audiences plenty to think about. The show, which stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black and Lola Petticrew as serial killer Catherine Grace, quickly became one of the most talked-about series of the summer. With a second season already confirmed, fans are now looking ahead to see how the story will continue.
The eight-episode first season followed Alice’s hunt for Catherine, a mysterious and calculating killer. But as the show moved forward, the line between hunter and hunted started to blur. The finale, titled “Hart Island,” answered some questions but opened the door to many others. Now that Furious Season 2 is officially happening, here are the biggest questions the show needs to address.
The Renewal Came Before the Finale Even Aired
Hulu announced the renewal for Furious Season 2 on August 27, 2026—days before the season one finale even dropped. This early pickup shows how much faith the streamer has in the series. Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew are both expected to return for the second season. The show also features Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy, Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang, and Steve Way in key roles.
Viewership for the show grew week after week, with a 40% increase in audience numbers leading up to the finale. The series premiered on July 27, 2026, with its first three episodes. By the time the finale arrived, Furious had become a breakout hit for Hulu.
Catherine’s Arrest Leaves Her Future Unclear
One of the most shocking moments in the finale came when Catherine was taken to jail after learning the truth about her past. Throughout the season, Catherine operated as a vigilante killer, targeting people who had hurt others. But her arrest raises a major question: Will Catherine be able to recover from the truth she just discovered?
The second season will need to explore Catherine’s emotional state. She has been a driving force in the story, and her time in jail could change everything. Alden, a character who relies on Catherine as his caregiver, is also left in a vulnerable position. With Catherine behind bars, Alden’s situation becomes uncertain. Furious Season 2 will have to show what happens to him and how he copes without her support.
Emma Easton’s Future After Her Father’s Death
Emma Easton, played by Hope Davis, finds herself in a complicated position after the finale. Her DNA was found in Isabel’s fingernails, meaning Isabel scratched Emma while she was dying. Emma was already deeply involved in her father Jay Easton’s crimes. With Jay now dead, Emma becomes the heir to his massive wealth.
The question now is: How will Emma handle this new power and responsibility? She was complicit in her father’s actions, and her role in the whole operation remains unclear. Furious Season 2 will need to show whether Emma will continue her father’s work or try to break free from his shadow.
Alice Killed Jay Easton—Will the Truth Come Out?
One of the biggest twists in the finale was the revelation that Alice killed Jay Easton with her own hands. While his death was officially ruled as respiratory failure, Alice was the one who ended his life. She did this after learning that Easton enjoyed watching a video of her being abused.
Catherine knows the truth about what Alice did. This puts Alice in a dangerous position. If Catherine ever decides to reveal what she knows, Alice’s career and freedom could be at risk. The second season will need to address whether the truth about Alice’s actions will come to light and how she will deal with that possibility.
Alice also has a list of people who downloaded the video of her abuse. This list gives her a new mission. The question is: What will she do with it? Will she follow Catherine’s path and seek revenge, or will she handle things differently?
Connelly’s Fate Remains Unknown
Connelly was shot by Catherine in the finale, leaving his fate hanging in the balance. His character has been important throughout the season, and his survival—or death—will have a big impact on the story moving forward. How will Connelly’s storyline unfold in Furious Season 2? His dynamic with Alice could shift in major ways depending on what happens to him.
The Full Extent of Jay Easton’s Crimes Has Not Been Revealed
Jay Easton was a wealthy and powerful man who committed terrible crimes. Hal had gathered a lot of data on Easton’s actions, but the full picture is still unclear. How many more people were involved in his operations? The second season will need to shed light on the details of Easton’s case and reveal the other people who played a part in his crimes.
This information could also affect Emma, Alice, and Catherine in different ways. The more that comes out about Easton’s network, the more dangerous the situation becomes for everyone involved.
Catherine’s Influence Will Continue to Shape the Story
From the very beginning, Catherine’s actions have shaped the direction of the series. She started as the target of Alice’s investigation, but as the season progressed, the lines between right and wrong became blurred. Alice’s tragic past and Easton’s involvement in her trauma changed everything.
Now that Catherine is in jail, her influence might not disappear. She could still manipulate events from behind bars, or her past actions could continue to affect the people she left behind. Furious Season 2 will have to explore how Catherine’s legacy impacts the story going forward.
What’s Next for Alice?
Alice started the season as a dedicated FBI agent. By the end, she had become someone capable of murder. She killed Jay Easton and made it look like an accident. She also has a list of people who hurt her in the past. The big question is: Will Alice become more like Catherine?
The finale hints that Alice might be heading down a darker path. She has the means and the motive to go after the people on her list. But she also has the chance to walk away and focus on her investigation. Furious Season 2 will reveal which direction she chooses.
Will Catherine Return?
Another major question is whether Catherine will return in a significant way in the second season. She is in jail, but that doesn’t mean her story is over. Catherine has been a central figure in the series, and her absence would leave a big hole. The show could explore her time in prison, or she could find a way to escape. Either way, viewers are waiting to see what happens to her next.
The Finale Also Addressed Isabel’s Situation
The finale did provide some closure regarding Isabel. Alice visited Catherine and told her that Isabel’s body had been found and would be moved to a proper grave. This brought some resolution to one of the season’s most emotional storylines. But even with this answer, many other questions remain.
Streaming Details and Where to Watch
Furious is available to stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in other regions. The first season consists of eight episodes, with the finale released on August 31, 2026. Hulu has not yet announced a release date for Furious Season 2. Given that the renewal was announced just days before the season one finale, production on the second season is likely still in the early stages.
The show was created by Elizabeth Meriwether, known for her work on New Girl. This marks a departure from her usual comedy work, and the shift to crime thriller has clearly paid off. Emmy Rossum also serves as an executive producer on the series.
