The latest episode of Ghosts brought a ton of trouble for Sam and Jay as they tried to fix a money problem that was not their fault. The episode titled “Woodstone Royale” aired on CBS on April 16, 2026, and showed the couple going to extreme lengths to pay the IRS.

After learning that Trevor had not paid his taxes for a long time, the couple suddenly owed $220,000. With the end of the month coming fast, Sam and Jay had to get creative. Their solution was to hold a secret, high-stakes poker game at the Woodstone B&B. The plan was to use the ghosts to cheat and win enough cash to save themselves.

A Surprising Guest Arrives at Woodstone

The poker night brought an exciting face to the mansion. Iain Armitage, known for playing Sheldon Cooper on Young Sheldon, showed up playing a version of himself. He came to Woodstone to study the players for a movie role he was getting ready for.

Sam and the ghosts were shocked to see the young actor at their table. The episode was special for Iain Armitage because he is a big fan of the show. He told Collider that Ghosts was one of the only shows he would watch right when he got home from work, saying:

“I’m not very subtle, especially when it comes to things that I love. Ghosts is one of the only shows that I consistently would watch on the night it aired, right when I got home.”

His appearance also created a fun connection because Danielle Pinnock (who plays Alberta) had a guest role on Young Sheldon before joining Ghosts.

How Sam and Jay Tried to Cheat Their Way to a Win

The poker game got messy very fast. Sam asked Flower to look at the cards of a player named Boris to help her win. But even with Flower’s help, Sam still lost to Boris.

Trevor soon found out that Boris was also cheating by keeping extra cards in his pants. Trevor used his power to knock the hidden cards out, which let Sam and Jay win the next round.

Things seemed to be going well until Jay made a big mistake. He posted a selfie with Iain Armitage on his social media. Two police officers who were big fans of the actor saw the post and came to the mansion. The officers took all the money from the poker game, leaving Sam and Jay with nothing again.

A Fight Breaks Out in the Basement

While the poker game was happening upstairs, another story was playing out in the basement. Sass and Pete felt bad for the basement ghosts because they lost their water heater in a past episode. To be nice, the two ghosts gave them Jay’s recliner.

But the kind act did not go as planned. The basement ghosts started fighting over who would get to sit in the chair first. Sass and Pete could only watch as their gift turned into a silly war. Peace returned only when the basement ghosts found out their new water heater made the same noise as the old one, giving them a new thing to focus on.
