Girls’ Generation’s Yoona recently appeared on Hyeri‘s YouTube series, where she shared details about her year-long break from work. The two friends enjoyed drinks and conversation, with Hyeri explaining how she invited Yoona onto her show.
How Yoona Joined Hyeri’s Show
Hyeri recounted their chance meeting on a flight back from Paris. She noticed someone who looked like a celebrity wearing a hat and mask. It turned out to be Yoona. Hyeri asked Yoona what she had been up to and invited her to be on the show. Yoona responded that she was resting and not doing much, but agreed to appear.
“I was on the same flight returning home from a business trip in Paris. I didn’t know I was on the same flight until I got off, where I saw someone that looked like a celebrity. She was wearing a hat and a mask, so I wondered who it was, and it turned out it was Yoona. I asked her what she was doing these days and asked her to come on my show. I remember her saying, ‘I’m resting and not doing anything, though. Ok, sure!’”
Yoona’s Year of Rest and Self-Discovery
On the show, Yoona explained that she had taken a break for about a year and was now preparing for new projects.
“Although I did fan meetings and filmed commercials in between, it was the first time I’ve taken a break this long. I felt it was time to return to work as I took a break for about a year.”
She also shared that she had finally had the opportunity to travel alone, something she hadn’t done before. This experience gave her new insights.
“I even took the airport limousine bus. No one cared who I was, so I felt like I was just being conscious about it. I thought, ‘Did I hold myself back too much?’ This experience gave me a different perspective.”
