Hannah Einbinder has joined a growing list of celebrities speaking out against Ed Sheeran after the British singer’s tour lost multiple opening acts. The Hacks star shared a screenshot of Sheeran’s reported $400 million net worth on her Instagram Story on September 15, 2026, adding a sharp message aimed at the fellow redhead. Her post came just hours after Sheeran released a statement about Macklemore‘s removal from his Loop Tour, which has sparked a wave of backlash across the music industry.
What Hannah Einbinder Said About Ed Sheeran
Einbinder reposted a graphic that read “Ed Sheeran insists he is a regular guy despite $400 million net worth.” Along with the screenshot, she wrote a message that quickly spread across social media.
“Ed Sheeran i say this as a ginger. i hope you get a REALLY bad sun burn the kind on the back of your entire body where it hurts to lie down or walk or sit.”
The 31-year-old actress and comedian is a natural redhead, just like Sheeran, 35. Her joke played on a shared trait among people with red hair, who are often more sensitive to sunlight. The comment was not just a random jab. It came directly after Sheeran posted a statement explaining why he does not use his platform for politics, which many fans and fellow artists found frustrating.

Why Macklemore Was Removed From the Loop Tour

The rapper had been performing as a supporting act and made comments in support of Palestine during shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4 and 5.
During his performance, Macklemore wore a keffiyeh and performed his song Hind’s Hall while images from Gaza appeared on stadium screens. He told the crowd of more than 80,000 people, “I want those words to be loud and clear, so that people all the way in Gaza to the occupied West Bank know that we have not forgotten about them.”
Robert Kraft, the owner of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and a longtime pro-Israel figure, was among the first to object. Kraft said Macklemore’s performance “has been deeply offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community.” He told Sheeran’s team that the rapper would not be allowed to perform at his venue.
The tour promoter, Messina Touring Group, later confirmed that multiple venues refused to host Macklemore. The promoter said in a statement, “After discussions with stakeholders, Macklemore will not be performing on the remaining support dates.” The venues that objected included stadiums in Philadelphia, Foxborough, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Arlington, and Tampa.
In his own statement on September 14, Macklemore said he had been making similar comments at performances around the world for nearly three years. “So why is it an issue now?” he asked. He also said Sheeran told him that Kraft had convinced other stadium owners to take the same stance. Macklemore wrote that although Sheeran is “a friend,” it does not “change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened”.
Ed Sheeran Says the Decision Was Not His
Sheeran broke his silence on September 15, 2026, posting a lengthy statement on Instagram. He wrote that removing Macklemore “was the promoter’s decision, it was not mine.” He added, “I am not complicit” and said he had spent the week trying to build bridges between the parties involved.

All Four Supporting Acts Have Left the Tour
After Sheeran’s statement, all four remaining support acts announced they were leaving the tour. Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga all posted pro-Palestinian solidarity statements on Instagram.
Irish artist Aaron Rowe wrote, “As Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation. I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up”.
Finneas kept his message short: “Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed. I stand with Palestine and its people.”
Irish rap trio Kneecap also shared their support for Macklemore. Responding to his statement, the group wrote, “Free Palestine. They can never silence the truth.” They later posted a photo with Macklemore, adding, “All love and solidarity to @macklemore. FREE PALESTINE.”
Other public figures who have backed Macklemore include Kehlani, Paloma Faith, Garbage, Tones and I, and climate activist Greta Thunberg. The band Garbage described Macklemore’s removal as “sheer madness,” saying nothing he said was “violent or hateful or remotely radical”.
Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters, 83, also weighed in. In a video shared online, Waters called Sheeran a “little p***k” over the decision to drop Macklemore.
