Consequences of the Battle at Rook’s Rest

The Episode 5 trailer, released on Monday, July 8, teases the fallout from the Battle at Rook’s Rest. During the battle, Aemond and Vhagar killed Rhaenys‘ dragon, Meleys, while Rhaenys herself met a tragic end, brought down by a drunken King Aegon and his dragon Sunfyre. The aftermath shows Meleys’ head paraded through King’s Landing, labeled a “traitor dragon” as Alicent and Aemond look on.

Back in Dragonstone, Rhaenyra seeks to gain the support of the Riverlands as allies in the Dance of the Dragons. The death of Rhaenys and Meleys has pushed the Blacks to consider more drastic measures. Daemon, now presiding over Caraxes, issues dire threats to soldiers, demanding their allegiance or facing destruction.

Mysaria, known as The White Worm, advises Rhaenyra, reminding her that “there’s more than one way to fight a war,” while praising the late King Viserys I for maintaining peace during his reign.
