The clock is ticking for five high school students who made a dangerous mistake. Netflix is ready to release its first Korean young adult horror series “If Wishes Could Kill,” and the show brings a terrifying idea to life. What if an app that grants wishes also comes with a death sentence?
The series follows a group of friends at Seorin High School who find a mysterious app called GIRIGO. The app promises to make any wish come true. All users need to do is enter their fortune reading and name, then make a wish. But there is a hidden cost nobody sees coming.
The show will start streaming on April 24, 2026. Netflix will release all episodes on the same day for viewers in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and other countries worldwide.
A Wish App That Turns Deadly For Five High School Friends
The story centers on five friends whose normal lives fall apart after using the GIRIGO app. Jeon So Young plays Se Ah, a talented track-and-field athlete. She becomes the first person to suspect something is very wrong with the app. Se Ah refuses to give up on saving her friends even when things get dangerous.
Kang Mina takes the role of Na Ri, Se Ah’s beautiful and popular friend. Na Ri comes from a wealthy background and has idol-like looks. She does not believe Se Ah’s warnings about the app at first. But as strange events start happening, Na Ri falls into panic and confusion.
The group also includes Baek Sun Ho as Geon Woo, a cheerful student who is secretly dating Se Ah. He works hard to protect her and find out the truth about the app. Hyun Woo Seok plays Ha Joon, the smart one in the group who knows computers well. He tries everything from deleting the app to resetting his phone. Lee Hyo Je plays Hyeong Wook, a prankster who loves hanging with his friends. He becomes the first person to get involved with GIRIGO.
The Curse Cannot Be Stopped By Deleting The App
The newly released photos from the show reveal how bad things get for these students. The pictures show the clear difference between their lives before and after the curse. At first, they look like normal happy teenagers with bright smiles. They go about their peaceful everyday lives without any worries.
But everything changes in a single moment. The curse takes over, and their worlds fall apart. Some of them look terrified. Others show wounds and sweat on their faces while making desperate choices just to stay alive.
The friends try to escape the curse by deleting the app and resetting their phones. Nothing works. The curse keeps getting stronger, pushing them closer to the edge. The situation turns out to be much more serious than anyone expected.
A Shaman Joins The Fight Against The App Curse
The students do not fight alone. Jeon So Nee plays Haetsal, Ha Joon’s older sister who works as a shaman. Roh Jae Won plays Bang Wool, her assistant. Together, they step in to help break the curse linked to the GIRIGO app.
The shaman and her assistant search for the source of the curse. They perform rituals and go into the field to investigate what is really happening. Their efforts add a supernatural layer to the horror story.

Park Yoon Seo directs the series. He previously worked as the second unit director for “Kingdom” Season 2 and co-directed the hit show “Moving.” His experience with big projects brings quality to this new horror series. Park Joong Seop wrote the script for the show.
The teaser trailer opens with a shocking scene. Hyeong Wook runs at Se Ah in the middle of class while holding a box cutter. A red timer ticks down on his phone screen. The trailer also shows students recording their wishes and sending them through the GIRIGO app. Strange things happen right after the videos get uploaded.
The tagline for the show asks a direct question: “Do you have one? A wish you’d die for.” This simple line connects the idea of desire with death, making viewers think about what price they would pay for their deepest wishes.
