He shared that the film which gave him the highest pay cheque of his life also turned out to be his most miserable professional experience. In a candid interview, the actor revealed that the money was not worth the personal cost, and he would not do such a project again even if offered double or triple the amount.

In an interview with Brut India, Imran Khan spoke honestly about a project that remains unnamed. He said that while this film gave him his career’s biggest paycheck, the process of making it was deeply unpleasant.
“The film I made that specifically gave me my highest pay cheque in my life, was also the most miserable film I made.. the process of making it. That taught me the lesson of how much is that money worth and how much is your time and peace of mind worth. What’s your trade-off point? What’s the point where you say, ‘Keep the money’.”
The actor did not name the film, but he made it clear that the experience changed his outlook on work and money. He explained that the financial reward came with a personal price that he was not willing to pay again.
Setting Firm Boundaries: ‘I Won’t Do It for Double or Triple the Money’
Imran Khan shared that this difficult experience taught him to set clear boundaries. He now refuses to take on projects just for the money, no matter how large the offer.
“When someone says, ‘Take this money and do this’, I say no, I won’t do that for your money. You will reach a point somewhere to the idea that there is a price, but I would like to think that we also have a line that we won’t cross for the money. Even if the price is double, or three times the money, I still won’t do that. When you find that, it does something to your head.”
This statement shows how the actor has prioritized his mental well-being over financial gain. He emphasized that knowing your own limit and sticking to it is important.
A Decade Away from the Spotlight
Imran Khan stepped away from acting after his 2015 film Katti Batti, which starred Kangana Ranaut. His absence from Bollywood became a topic of curiosity among fans. In a 2024 interview with Film Companion, he described his exit not as a sudden decision but as a gradual process.
“Yes. At that moment I didn’t consider it in that way and I never said, ‘Okay, on this day, I’m done, I quit.’ It was kind of a process of a week becoming a month, a month becoming three and becoming a year, and a year becoming two where I said, ‘Okay, I won’t do this because my heart’s not in it.’”
He also mentioned that he spent his 30s grappling with larger questions about life, rather than focusing on his career.
Imran Khan’s Comeback: Adhure Hum Adhure Tum
After a long break, Imran Khan is returning to the screen with the Netflix film Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. The movie is directed by Danish Aslam, who previously worked with him on Break Ke Baad. It also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Gurfateh Pirzada.
The actor described the project as a “grown-up romantic comedy” that matches where he is in life today. He told The Hollywood Reporter India that the film is currently in post-production and is expected to release on Netflix by the end of 2026.
“It’s for Netflix and is scheduled to come out at the end of this year. It’s a grown-up romantic comedy… age-appropriate to where I am now.”
He also shared that the film feels like a natural progression for the team of Break Ke Baad, 15 years later.
