Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has done what no Tamil film managed before. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action sequel crossed the ₹700 crore mark at the worldwide box office on Sunday, October 25, 2026 — its 11th day in theatres. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported the film’s worldwide gross at ₹710.35 crore, pushing it past the lifetime collection of 2.0 (₹691 crore) to become the highest-grossing Tamil film ever.

The film released worldwide on October 15, 2026, during the Dussehra festive period, and has been on a record-breaking run since day one.

The Numbers Behind the Record

Jailer 2’s worldwide gross of ₹710.35 crore breaks down into strong domestic and international earnings. In India, the film collected ₹398.70 crore net and ₹466.85 crore gross by the end of Day 11. Overseas markets added ₹243.50 crore, including an estimated ₹10 crore on Sunday alone, with international earnings reported at USD 25.6 million.

On its 11th day, the film earned ₹25.70 crore net in India across 11,954 shows, a 6.4% rise over Saturday’s ₹24.15 crore. The Tamil version led with ₹17.35 crore from 5,683 shows. The Telugu version added ₹4.50 crore, the Hindi version ₹3.15 crore, and the Kannada version ₹0.70 crore.

A Second Weekend That Kept the Momentum Going

The second weekend brought in ₹64.35 crore net in India over three days. Friday, October 23, collected ₹14.50 crore from 10,484 shows with 26.7% occupancy. Saturday, October 24, jumped to ₹24.15 crore across 11,591 shows at 35.8% occupancy. Sunday, October 25, closed the weekend at ₹25.70 crore across 11,954 shows with 38.0% occupancy.

The 2.0 Record That Stood for Eight Years

2.0, the 2018 sci-fi film directed by Shankar, starred Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar and held the highest-grossing Tamil film record with ₹691 crore worldwide for nearly eight years. Jailer 2 passed that number on its 11th day, ending the long-standing benchmark.

Rajinikanth now holds the top spot with two of his own films — first 2.0, and now Jailer 2.
