The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise set the anime world buzzing on April 30, 2026, when Studio MAPPA released a fully animated promotional video for Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the spin-off manga set 68 years after the original story. The 30-second trailer dropped to celebrate the release of the series’ third and final volume on May 1, 2026. Right now, there is no official word about a full anime adaptation, but fans are already hoping this high-quality PV is a sign of things to come.

The New Trailer Brings the Spin-Offโ€™s Biggest Moments to Life

The promotional video, directed by Shun Miyakawa, shows key scenes from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga. It features voice actors Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori) and Nobunaga Shimazaki (Mahito), both returning from the main anime series. The trailer highlights major characters including Yuka Okkotsu, Tsurugi Okkotsu, and the alien Maru, along with the intense fight between Dabura and Divine General Mahoraga.

“End the cycle of curses,” the franchise teased alongside the video release.

The animation quality matches the high standard MAPPA is known for, with smooth action sequences and emotional beats packed into just 30 seconds. Sota Yamazaki handled character design and chief animation direction, while Masato Matsunaga served as producer.

Within hours of its release, the trailer racked up more than 10 million views across social media platforms. Fans immediately started asking whether this means a full anime is coming.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo?

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo (written as Jujutsu Kaisen โ‰ก) is a short spin-off series created by original Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, known for Cipher Academy. The manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from September 8, 2025, to March 9, 2026, totaling 25 chapters.

The story takes place in 2086, sixty-eight years after the Culling Game arc from the original manga. An alien race called the Simurians arrives on Earth in a spaceship, and the fate of the world rests on two jujutsu sorcerersโ€”Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu. The series explores what happens when jujutsu sorcerers meet beings from another world.

The three volumes released in Japan on January 5, 2026 (Volume 1), March 4, 2026 (Volume 2), and May 1, 2026 (Volume 3). English versions are available through VIZ Media’s Shonen Jump platform and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service.

No Official Anime Announcement Has Been Made

Despite the excitement, MAPPA and Shueisha have not announced plans for a full Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo anime. The trailer was created specifically to promote and celebrate the final volume’s releaseโ€”a marketing move, not a production announcement.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, adapting the Culling Game arc Part 1, finished airing in March 2026. MAPPA still has major arcs left to adapt from the original manga, including the rest of the Culling Game and the Shinjuku Showdown arc, which is the series’ final battle. Industry watchers estimate it could take three to five years to finish animating the main story.

Given that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is a short series with only 25 chapters, some fans believe it could work better as a movie or OVA rather than a full television season. This approach would allow MAPPA to maintain high animation quality while delivering the complete story in a shorter format.
