This is getting out of hand.
Byeon Woo Seok’s “airport security” controversy is still hot in the entertainment industry.
An online video revealed Byeon’s security guard using a flashlight at civilians to prevent them from filming. The video went viral online, with many criticizing the security team’s actions.
The security team CEO quickly admitted that “it was the security guard’s fault for having shone the flashlight” and “wished to deeply apologize for making civilians uncomfortable.”
Most recently, although Byeon Woo Seok’s agency issued an official apology online, they still received criticism from netizens.
With this, K-media expressed its take on the situation and felt there were certain boundaries that needed to be made.
After the security controversy, Byeon’s agency reduced the number of bodyguards from six to three, but this wasn’t enough to block the fans from the airport. Fans also continued to show up at private schedules despite the agency’s warnings refraining them from doing so.
“This excessive security could be the agency’s attempt to prevent more accidents. But the fact that fans still showed up at the airport despite the controversy shows just how serious the problem is.
Also, the way Byeon’s agency handled the situation was also frustrating. If the excessive behavior situation could have been resolved by reducing the number of security, none of this would have happened. You can find examples from other celebrities on protecting celebrities without infringing on people’s private information or using violence.”

Although fans are just as happy as Byeon for finally becoming known to the public, the airport is not where to show support or gratitude. On July 16, Byeon stopped to listen to fans singing to him at the airport despite the staff requesting him to go inside.
“Although we understand that he is trying to respond with fan service, he should also remember that there are other ways to show gratitude to the fans.
Most importantly, fans must understand that there are certain boundaries, as celebrities can only tolerate so much.”

Dongja Art Hall, a place where fan sign events are often held, stated, “Security does not have the control or power. Security should be able to protect their clients while being in stealth mode.”
