Kagurabachi fans will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter of the Seitei War arc. The manga is taking an unexpected two-week break after creator Takeru Hokazono was suddenly hospitalized. The news came directly from Shueisha, the publisher behind Weekly Shonen Jump, and it has left readers both worried and relieved.
The official Kagurabachi X account shared the announcement on September 10, 2026, confirming that Chapter 132 would not appear in the combined Weekly Shonen Jump issue 42/43, which was set to go on sale on September 14, 2026. The chapter will now release in issue 44 on September 28, 2026.
“The serialization of ‘Kagurabachi’ that was scheduled to appear in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 42•43 combined (on sale September 14) will be on hiatus due to the author’s sudden illness. The author has already recovered, and the continuation of the manga will be published in the next issue, Weekly Shonen Jump issue 44 (on sale September 28).”
What Happened to Takeru Hokazono
The break was caused by a sudden illness that required Takeru Hokazono to be hospitalized. Shueisha did not share specific details about what he was treated for, but the publisher confirmed that he has since recovered and is working toward the series’ return.
This is not the first time Kagurabachi has paused because of Hokazono’s health. Back in June 2026, the manga went on a month-long break, starting with Weekly Shonen Jump issue 31 on June 29. It returned on July 27, 2026.
At that time, Shueisha’s editorial department released a longer statement explaining the decision:
“While Mr. Hokazono had intended to continue writing, after repeated discussions, we have decided that he will take a certain period of rest in order to deliver the work in a stable form going forward.”
The creator himself also spoke to fans during the summer break, saying:
“I’ll be taking a small break. Please wait patiently while I work on making Kagurabachi even better!”
Why the Delay Feels Longer Than It Is
Chapter 132 was originally set for September 13, 2026, but the release was pushed back. The new date of September 28 means fans are looking at a two-week gap instead of the usual one-week wait. Part of that extra time comes from a scheduled magazine break in Japan tied to a holiday period, which means Weekly Shonen Jump is not publishing a regular issue during that week.
For readers who follow the series weekly, the delay is noticeable but not as long as the summer hiatus. The chapter will arrive in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 44, which goes on sale September 28, 2026.
Where the Story Stands in the Seitei War Arc
Kagurabachi is currently in the middle of the Seitei War arc, which serves as Part 2 of the story. This arc is a flashback that explores the origins of the Enchanted Blades and the war against the Mikaboshi clan. An anime adaptation by Cypic is set to release in April 2027. It will air on Japanese television and stream internationally on Crunchyroll. A world tour is already underway to promote the anime, with screenings of the first 20 minutes of the premiere episode planned at major conventions globally. Part 2 of the tour has been announced, with stops including Johannesburg and Melbourne.
