Prime Video has set the release date for the third and final season of Maxton Hall – The World Between Us. The German teen drama will return with six episodes on December 9, 2026, bringing Ruby Bell and James Beaufort’s love story to its conclusion.
The streaming platform announced the premiere date alongside a new poster showing leads Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung as their characters. On social media, Prime Video wrote: “Nothing will ever be the same. Maxton Hall, the Final Season premieres December 9”.
The show has become Prime Video’s biggest international original series and the most-watched non-English original in the platform’s history. Season 2, which arrived in November 2025, achieved the largest first-week global viewership for an International Original on Prime Video.
Final Season Picks Up After Ruby’s Expulsion
Season 3 continues right where Season 2 left off. Ruby Bell has been suspended from Maxton Hall College after being falsely accused of having a relationship with teacher Graham Sutton. Her dream of studying at Oxford University is now at risk.
The official synopsis reads: “Ruby is on the edge: She has been suspended from Maxton Hall College, and all evidence points to James being responsible for her expulsion. A slap in the face that not only endangers Ruby’s Oxford dream but also puts their love to a severe test”.
James Beaufort and Ruby work together to prove her innocence. But as they dig deeper, secrets come to light and friendships face serious pressure. The season explores whether their love can survive the challenges ahead.
The final season is based on Save Us, the third book in Mona Kasten’s bestselling trilogy. The first season adapted Save Me, while Season 2 followed Save You.
Cast Returns for the Final Chapter
Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung return as Ruby Bell and James Beaufort. The supporting cast also comes back for the final season:

Production Wrapped in December 2025
Filming for Season 3 finished in December 2025. The production shot scenes at Schloss Marienburg near Hanover, Germany. First photos from the set gave fans an early look at the final chapter.
Prime Video initially confirmed the third season in June 2025, six months before Season 2 even premiered. The streamer announced the December 2026 release window during its Obsessed Fest fan event in Los Angeles on June 27-28, 2026. At that event, first-look images from the new season were also revealed.
The series launched in May 2024 and quickly became a global hit. It streams in more than 240 countries and regions worldwide.
A First Look Coming September 3
Prime Video plans to give fans a first preview of the new episodes on September 3, 2026. While details remain limited, this early look is expected to be a teaser trailer.
Season 3 will have six episodes, matching the length of the previous two seasons. The series is a German-language production, and all episodes will be available with subtitles and dubbing in multiple languages for global audiences.

What Happened in Season 2
Season 2 ended with Ruby facing serious consequences. Mortimer Beaufort, James’s father, manipulated events to tear the couple apart. Ruby was framed for Lydia’s secret relationship with teacher Graham Sutton and suspended from Maxton Hall just before her important exam.
