What Happened in Rich Girl Caretaker Episode 1

Episode 1 set the stage for the entire series. The story follows Itsuki Tomonari, a 16-year-old high school student from a poor family. His parents abandon him and run away together, leaving him alone with no money. He works a construction job to survive.

On his way to school one day, Itsuki comes across Hinako Konohana. She is the heiress to one of Japanโ€™s largest conglomerates. A van pulls up and kidnaps both of them. The kidnappers do not even realize they have grabbed the daughter of a powerful family.

Inside the van, Hinako does not seem scared. She is more worried about small things like needing to use the bathroom. She quickly falls asleep using Itsuki as a pillow. Hinako takes a liking to Itsuki because he is not as strict as the other caretakers she has had.

On the surface, Hinako appears to be a perfect, brilliant, and charming young lady. But in reality, she has no life skills and cannot handle basic tasks. She is lazy and needs constant help. Due to family reasons, she must maintain her “perfect” image at school.

Itsuki ends up becoming her caretaker. He takes care of her behind the scenes to protect her reputation. The episode ends with Hinako starting to depend on Itsuki. She says she would hate it if he were not around.

About the Series

Rich Girl Caretaker is based on a light novel series written by Yusaku Sakaishi and illustrated by Sakura Miwabe. The story first appeared as a web novel on the Shลsetsuka ni Narล website from April 2020 to October 2021. Hobby Japan later published it in print under their HJ Bunko imprint. Eleven volumes have been released as of October 2025.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Sorahiko Mizushima is also serialized in Comic Fire. The anime is produced by Studio Brain’s Base, known for Natsume’s Book of Friends. Shลซsei Morishita directs the series, with Aya Yoshinaga handling series composition.

The opening theme song is “Saisaisaikokyu no Osewa shite” performed by angela. The music is composed by Natsumi Tabuchi, Hanae Nakamura, and Mayo Kurihara.

What to Expect in Rich Girl Caretaker Episode 2

The series has a total of 12 episodes. The show is described as a romantic comedy with plenty of humor. Fans can expect awkward situations, funny moments, and the slow development of feelings between the two main characters.

Crunchyroll describes the plot simply: “On a weird day disrupting a normal week, an ordinary boy meets an exceptional girl. She’s pretty, rich, popular andโ€ฆa spoiled slob?”

The show leans more toward comedy than romance. The kidnapping in Episode 1 was played for laughs rather than drama. The humor comes from Hinakoโ€™s complete helplessness and Itsukiโ€™s forced responsibility.

Production Details

The anime adaptation was announced in October 2025. The production team includes:

  • Director: Shลซsei Morishita
  • Series Composition: Aya Yoshinaga
  • Character Designs: Takashi Kawashima
  • Music: Natsumi Tabuchi, Hanae Nakamura, Mayo Kurihara
  • Sound Director: Takeshi Takadera

The series airs on MBS, TV Tokyo, and BS Asahi in Japan. Crunchyroll holds the international streaming rights.

Why Fans Are Excited

The first episode received positive reactions from viewers. The showโ€™s mix of comedy and unusual romance has drawn attention. The contrast between Hinakoโ€™s perfect public image and her private helplessness creates many funny moments. Itsukiโ€™s reluctant role as her caretaker adds to the humor.

Fans of romantic comedy anime will find this series entertaining. The show offers a fresh take on the rich girlโ€“poor boy dynamic. The secret caretaker setup adds an interesting layer to the story.

Viewers are also curious about how the relationship between Itsuki and Hinako will develop. Hinako already shows signs of attachment to Itsuki. Episode 2 will likely explore this further while introducing more comedic situations.
