The new season of Selling Sunset has revealed a major secret between two cast members. In a shocking on-camera moment, Amanza Smith confessed that she and fellow agent Nicole Young used cocaine together in their younger years. This confession happened during a heated argument that ended with Nicole making a comment about co-star Chrishell Stause’s deceased parents, leading to her dismissal from The Oppenheim Group.
The Shocking Drug Confirmation
The drama unfolded during the ninth season of the hit Netflix reality show, which premiered on October 29, 2025. For several seasons, Chrishell Stause had accused Nicole Young of having a history with hard drugs, allegations that Nicole consistently denied, stating she had only ever used “weed edibles.”
This season, the situation escalated during a group dinner. Amanza Smith directly challenged Nicole’s story. โYou used to do drugs. Who cares?โ Amanza told Nicole, who again claimed she only liked “weed edibles” in the past. Amanza refused to back down, stating, โYou used to do drugs, you almost ODโd and then stopped.โ She explained the context by adding, โItโs Los Angeles. Everybody has done cocaine.โ
After Nicole left the dinner, Amanza made her most direct claim to the cameras, saying, โShe used to do blow. Iโve done it with her. Iโll say it. We were young and we did it.โ This was the first time a cast member had claimed to have personally witnessed Nicole using hard drugs.
The Argument That Ended a Career
The drug conversation was part of a larger, more intense argument. The initial dispute was about a rumor Nicole had spread in a previous season regarding their co-star, Emma Hernan, allegedly having an affair with a married man. When Chrishell Stause defended Emma and stood by her own past drug accusations, Nicole responded with a personal attack.
Nicole told Chrishell, โHoney, youโre confusing me with your parents, okay? You seem to be obsessed with drugs.โ
The comment caused an immediate uproar at the table. Chrishell’s parents both died from lung cancer, and she has been open about their past struggles with addiction. Amanza and Emma were quick to condemn Nicole, with Amanza telling her, โYou need to f–king leaveโฆ Her parents are dead. Are you f–king serious?โ Emma Hernan called Nicole a “sick human” as the group forced her to leave the dinner.
The Professional Consequences
The fallout from the dinner was severe. In a subsequent episode, Jason Oppenheim and his brother Brett, the founders of The Oppenheim Group, sat down with Nicole for a serious conversation.
Jason expressed his disappointment, telling her, โI honestly could not believe the comment you made about Chrishellโs parents. I was viscerally disheartened and offended. Any reference to someoneโs dead parents is categorically off limits, especially if itโs disparaging.โ He then informed her, โYouโre gonna have to leave this office.โ
While this was presented as her firing on the show, Nicole later clarified in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum that she was never formally fired. She explained that the agents are independent contractors, and โnot coming into the office and continuing to work and do business, that wasnโt a huge deal.โ
Where Are They Now?
Nicole has stated that she has no regrets about the argument and will not apologize to Chrishell. โIโm proud of how I stood my ground, and Iโm proud of how I hope things will come across,โ she said. She also confirmed that her friendship with Amanza is โpermanently in the pastโ after the drug revelation.
Nicole has since moved from Los Angeles to Nashville to be closer to her husband’s family. She plans to continue her real estate career there, stating, โMy new priority will be Nashville, but it definitely wonโt be goodbye to LA real estate.โ
