The newest episodes of the animated series dropped on Disney+ on April 13, 2026. Two episodes arrived together, titled “Chapter 3: Whispers in the Unknown” and “Chapter 4: Pride and Vengeance” .
The story follows Darth Maul (Sam Witwer) after the events of The Clone Wars. He is building a new criminal empire on the planet Janix, a place the Empire has not fully taken over yet. The third and fourth episodes bring major changes for Maul, the Jedi Padawan Devon Izara (Gideon Adlon) , and the police detective Brander Lawson (Wagner Moura) .
Maul Tries to Turn a Jedi Padawan to the Dark Side
Episode 3 starts right after Devon Izara escaped her prison cell. Maul’s Mandalorian allies, led by Rook Kast (Vanessa Marshall) , bring her to him. Instead of fighting her right away, Maul invites her to sit down for tea.
Maul uses the whole conversation to try and win her over. He tells her about his past. He says the Jedi wanted to destroy him. He also shares that his brother Savage Opress and his mother Mother Talzin were both killed by Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine). His point is clear. The enemy of his enemy could be his friend.
Devon does not give in easily. She uses the Force to pull Maul’s lightsaber toward her and turns it on. The two have a short fight. Maul fights with only one hand, showing he is much stronger. The fight ends without a clear winner. Devon runs away, but Maul takes back his lightsaber before she leaves.
Detective Lawson Tries to Keep the Empire Away
The show also follows the police story on Janix. Detective Brander Lawson and his droid partner Two-Boots (Richard Ayoade) continue looking into the Shadow Collective’s activities.
Lawson tries to watch his son Rylee’s sports game, but Jedi Master Eeko-Dio Daki (Dennis Haysbert) shows up. The Jedi Master warns Lawson about Maul and asks for help to prove Devon is innocent.
A big problem grows between Lawson and Two-Boots. The droid wants to call the Empire for help. Lawson refuses. His ex-wife now works for the Empire, and he knows the danger that comes when Imperials arrive on a planet. Two-Boots goes behind Lawson’s back to their chief, but Chief Klyce (Keiko Agena) sends the droid to desk duty instead.
Maul Kills the Pyke Syndicate Leader
Episode 4 brings the action directly to the Pyke Syndicate. Maul has been planning to take over their operations. His crew forces Looti Vario (Chris Diamantopoulos) to call the Pyke leader Marg Krim (Stephen Stanton) and set up a meeting.
Vario flies to the Pyke planet Oba Diah. When Krim’s guards check the ship, Maul jumps out and kills several of them. Vario stuns one of Maul’s crew members who looks like a Dathomir. The guards take this fake Maul to Krim’s throne. But then the real Maul walks in. He kills Marg Krim right in front of everyone. Maul then puts one of Krim’s own guards in charge but makes it clear that the guard now answers to him.
The Empire Arrives With a Star Destroyer
Back on Janix, Devon reunites with her Master Daki. They convince Lawson to go after Maul. Lawson shuts down Two-Boots before the droid can bring the Empire to the planet.
Lawson meets with Maul. The former Sith Lord makes an offer. He will not trouble the people of Janix if the police stay out of his business. Lawson says no. A shootout starts between the police and Maul’s crew.
Daki and Devon join the fight. The Jedi Master battles Maul directly. The fight ends in a draw. Maul and his people retreat.
But the victory does not last long. Two-Boots already made the call before Lawson stopped him. The final scene of Episode 4 shows a massive Star Destroyer appearing over Janix. The familiar notes of The Imperial March play in the background. The Empire has arrived.
Fan Reactions to the New Episodes
Fans on social media are talking about the double release. Many like how the show mixes a crime story with Star Wars lore.
One fan wrote online, “Maul manipulating Devon while drinking tea was the most Sith thing ever. So calm but so threatening.”
Another viewer said, “The Imperial March at the end of episode 4 gave me chills. Janix is in big trouble now.”
Some fans also pointed out the many references to older Star Wars movies and shows. Maul’s tea is the same type Pre Vizsla served him in The Clone Wars. Master Daki tells Lawson, “Mal não lhe pretendo” (I mean you no harm), which is what Yoda tells Luke in The Empire Strikes Back.
