The week of June 1 through June 5, 2026, brought major shakeups to Genoa City on The Young and the Restless. Victor Newman gave his wife Nikki a hard choice between their marriage and her friendship with Jack Abbott. Matt Clark started remembering his evil past, leading to a breakdown. Phyllis Summers lost everything after giving back Newman Enterprises to Victor. Meanwhile, Sally Spectra and Billy Abbott planned their wedding, and Nikki’s health took a worrying turn.
Victor Issues Nikki an Ultimatum: Choose Marriage or Friendship with Jack
The biggest drama of the week centered on Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Victor told Nikki she had to choose between saving their marriage and her friendship with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). This ultimatum put Nikki in a painful spot. She loves her husband but also values her long friendship with Jack.
At the same time, Nikki started having painful headaches. Her daughter Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) pushed her to see a doctor, but Nikki refused. She blamed the headaches on stress and her multiple sclerosis (MS). Victoria remained worried, fearing something more serious might be wrong with her mother.
Matt Clark Breaks Down as His Dark Memories Resurface
Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) has been suffering from amnesia after saving Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) life. This week, Nick decided to help Matt remember who he really was. Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) built a replica of The Shadow Room in Genoa City, hoping the familiar place would trigger Matt’s memories.
When Nick took Matt to the recreated club, Matt broke down completely. He started having flashbacks of all the terrible things he had done to the Newman family. Matt swore he did not want to hurt anyone anymore and begged for a chance to redeem himself. Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) questioned whether Matt’s change of heart was real or just another trick. But Sienna believed Matt’s breakdown was genuine.
Nick struggled with his anger toward Matt. He realized he could not take his rage out on a frightened man, so he punched a punching bag instead. Victor and Nick split on what to do with Matt next. Nick wanted Matt gone for good. Victor wanted to wait and see.
Phyllis Summers Loses Everything After Returning Newman Enterprises
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) had a terrible week. Nick threatened to turn her in for hiding Matt unless she gave Newman Enterprises back to Victor. Phyllis agreed to return the company but only if she got written assurance that all charges against her would be dropped.
Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) refused to drop the charges unless Victor admitted he had faked the evidence against Phyllis. Under pressure from Victoria and Nick, Victor finally confessed that the incriminating emails were fake. Christine got furious that the Newmans had lied to her.
Phyllis lashed out at Christine, calling her Victor’s puppet. She told Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) that she had lost everything. Her son Daniel blasted her for only giving back the company because she had been forced into a corner, not because it was the right thing to do. But Sharon surprised everyone by reaching out to Phyllis with friendship and support.
“Phyllis lamented to Michael that she’d lost everything. Daniel blasted Phyllis for only giving Newman back because she’d been backed into a corner and not because it had been the right thing to do.” – Soap Central recap
Sally and Billy Plan Their Wedding Amid Baby Drama
Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) started planning their wedding this week. But an innocent comment from Jack about everything going well in Sally’s life sent her into a spiral. Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) convinced Sally to live in the moment and not overthink things.
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) sincerely congratulated Sally, which opened the door for an honest talk about how they both still grieve their lost daughter, Ava. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) got shocked when Adam suggested they consider having another child. Chelsea did not see another pregnancy in her future.
Jack Hires a Private Investigator to Find Diane
Jack Abbott grew more worried as Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) remained missing. He told Billy that he had hired a private investigator to find her. Jack worried that Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) might be behind Diane’s disappearance. Despite his concerns, Jack agreed to serve as Billy’s best man at the wedding.
Friday’s Episode: Victor Keeps His Promise to Lily
The week ended on Friday, June 5, with Victor making good on a promise to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). After regaining control of Newman Enterprises, Victor signed over Chancellor Industries to Lily as he had promised earlier.
Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) and Audra were forced to face their painful past. The secrets they had kept hidden for months started coming to light. And Sharon gave Phyllis the benefit of the doubt, grateful that Phyllis had saved Nick’s life despite their complicated history.
